M3 Test in AUTOZEITUNG (against R8 + C6)

The german car magazin "AUTOZEITUNG" tested the new M3 against the Audi R8 and the Corvette C6.
The M3 wins overall with 3012pts to 2849 for R8 and 2684 for C6. In the driving dynamic - sektion the M3 ended with the same points as the R8...he is better than the R8 between the pylons 70,4km/h to 66,8km/h (with 19") really good performance for an 4-seat car against an supersportscar

In the same issue AUTOZEITUNG shows all new BMW´s from now to 2011...and as an real good news for me stated that the M3 Sedan comes End of 2007 (in europe).:rocks:

Holy NSFW Batman! Might want to put a warning on that GregW. (But thanks for posting )

So it beat the C6 and R8 in their test? Its hard to believe the M3 would be faster than those two on the average track. When you factor is using it as a daily driver it definitely has the advantage though.

I need to know, was the car faster than the c6 between the pylons?!?! All my friends drive Corvettes and they are pissed that I'm getting an m3! This would be great news if it was faster!

Are these numbers from the same magazine, or are they previous statistics?

Thanks, South. Those figures put the M3 times into perspective. The 0-200 time is impressive indeed. I may as well press my luck now and also ask for comparative slalom and circuit times if the review has those. . .

Last thing...for now:-)
how is the reputation in Germany of that magazine? are those numbers true in your experience?can you confirm that the numbers of the other two cars, already tested by many magazines in Germany and not only, are similar to precedent reports??this could mean that also the test of their M3 is reliable.

Interesting that for the R8 and C6 the best braking was achieved when cold, but the M3 had its best braking when hot. I wonder if the pads on the M3 were standard. Certainly race pads perform better when hot.

They compared these 3 cars in this test. But I don't know if they did all these performance tests at the same time.

Many thanks. The comparative laptime is surprising given the results of the slalom, braking and accelleration times. One last question -- does the article show the actual as tested weights for each car?

It's not AMS or SportAuto, but it's OK. My personal opinion is that it's a magazine worth reading most of the time. But usually the performance numbers of AUTOZeitung are better than AMS for example... Also the acceleration numbers for the R8 are about the best I can remember...
