Most people in parking lots look for the closest spots to the entrance and don't mind getting dings for some reason. They will make a parking spot if they can squeeze into them (like you create when you take up two spots).
I always drop my wife off (if shes in the car) at the door and go search for the best spot. These spots are usually the furthest away from the entrances. I call it my reserved parking and there are others like me (who don’t want dings) in these far away spots so there’s no risk someone will park on top of you. Parking in an Airport garage. No way. I take my winter unit to Airport garage because there are never enough spots and people are in a rush and could care less if they are bumping your car or hitting the doors. |

Agreed... one ugly car. But 0-60 in 2.5 seconds and 254 mph top speed is pretty nasty!

I guy I knew at work who was really anal about his car used to park taking up two spots. he did not know my car which was a Honda 1500 DX beater. One day I decided to park so close to him he would have to climb in his passenger door. I parked this way and then went into work and at the first opportunity I had him near the windows I said "Look at how close those two cars are parked together", at that exact moment, someone interrupted our conversation and asked an unrelated question. When I turned back to talk to him he was gone and I didn't have to wonder long where he went because I saw him crossing the parking lot headed for his (and my) cars. I ran downstairs and out into the lot and his eyes were bugging out and his veins bulging and he was really worked up. I explained to him that it was my car and it was a joke and he seemed to realize that he was overreacting but for a moment I thought he was going to start smashing on my car.
Generally I think you are just asking for a reaction by taking up two spots. |

Wow! Five pages on defensive parking!
I always park far away or hug the far right side. At 16.5 months, I still have yet to get a door ding, but I drive my wife nuts (I drop her off at the entrance ). Sometimes, I am with other people and can't let my obsessiveness show, though, so I just park and cross my fingers. Funny, though, when I'm walking to the entrance after parking far away, at least half the cars on the lot are much nicer than mine, just parked normally. I envy those people!

hahah....yes indeed. You definitely park like an asshole.
No sympathy from me, by drawing such negative attention to yourself. Someone will vandalize your ride....its just a matter of time.

This is funniest thread I've seen. Thanks guys.
Like most of you, I usually park far away from the entrances for 3 reasons: - I hate the parking lot madness that occurs. Some people act like they'll get a check for $100,000 if they get a prime parking space. Plus, they'll keep you waiting forever while they wait for someone to unload the shopping cart, put the kids in the car, adjust their mirrors and who know what else. This stuff drives me crazy. - Most of us are overweight. We need to walk more. Why not park farther away and work in a little exercise? - I hate door dings. But I won't take 2 spaces. I look for the end places that have extra space on the left or the right. I went 130K miles on my last car with ZERO dings. It's worth the extra effort. But my wife hates it. |

RANT? Sorry, but anyone who parks in 2 spots is an A**hole. Park at the far end of the lot if you don't want it dinged.

IT'S A CAR, and only a BMW at that! Don't be an asshole and take up two spots. If you're that paranoid, don't buy the car. Go park out in BFE with the rest of us, but when you take up two spots, expect to get fucked with. When I'm driving my truck I love screwing with people like you. I'd never damage another persons car, and I yell at my passengers to make sure they don't either, but sheesh. I'd do the same thing as the SUV drivers. Wait.....maybe that WAS me.... You're no better than anyone else, so 1 spot for you.

Another time I was in a garage and a guy pulled across 2 spots to park, but his front drivers wheel was up close to a concrete wall. Soooooo....I picked up the back end of his car and scooted it right up next to the concrete wall. I'll never know how the asshole got in the car, but it was damn funny. People were coming up to me in the bar and buying me beer for that one. Apparently word spread fast! I miss those cars with the big crome bumpers. These POS plastic covers don't give me anything to grab onto!

Taking up two spaces or parking diagonally is never acceptable. But to say a guy with a million dollar car can park anywhere, get over your 3 series and let it be dinged, that's just ******. It's totally up to the individual. |

Once it was a Porsche Boxster S. You're not taking up two spaces, and it's at the end, so it doesn't harm anyone. But there is a "spoiler" mentality that exists so not a lot one can do about them. I would keep parking against a curb, it severely lessens the odds of getting nicked. |

lol the other day I went to Meijer with my family so I dropped them off and went to park. I spotted another JB E90 325 parked all the way on the outer lane by itself. So I go to park 1 spot over from it and I realized he took up 2 places. WTF....there isn't another car near him for like a mile, yet he still needs to take up 2 places...

how about bringing along those orange cones and place them around your ride. Oh, better yet bring a couple of spray paint cans and spray the handicap signs on both sides of the empty parking spots.

[QUOTE=335iheLLraiseR;1890746]this is how i normally park, all the way really close to the curb , its a pain in the ass with wheels with lips, and yet some fucking moron manages to do this.
Wouldn't you love to see this a$$hole parking his goofy mustang like this? Not to do anything illegal, but just to call him on it. You should have photographed his license plate and plastered it all over the internet forums. Just go to some hillbilly Ford forum and you'd probably find him. Sorry, if offended any closet Ford owners. This is the best way for you to park. I sometimes pull in forward, instead of backing, because your car looks less like it's on display. As far as people taking up two spots that's just wrong. These people deserve what they get. Oh...BTW sweet ride! |

One thing I love about my old Expedition is that I don't give a flip about door dings or scratches or anything else. I just park it wherever and I don't worry about it every ten minutes when I'm eating or shopping somewhere. I haven't even washed it in over a year!
