Clear Bra?
Hi all, hope you're all doing well!
I have a question for all of you pro's - I recently had my front end completely resprayed as a result of severe stone chipping over the 2 years I've had the car. So they repainted the lower fender, the hood and blended in the side wings. Is it worth me applying a clear bra to this now in order to protect it going forward from further chipping? Does clear bra hold up against that sort of damage and how noticeable would it be on a Jerez black gloss paint job?

My clear bra has saved my front end on a number of occasions from small rocks so I think it's well worth it. It will be noticeable as a line across you hood and fenders, especially in certain lighting conditions. Unless you clear bra your entire hood and front fenders, of course.

Below are a couple of pics of Ventureshield film on my Jerez Black M3. Have it done by a pro or you are going to see all sorts of annoying anomalies thanks to black being the color that will best highlight poor installation workmanship.

Ventureshield used to recommend waiting 30 days after paint. From the factory you can apply right away. I'm planning to get me bumper filled in late October & get the clear bra reapplied next Spring. Had it on since Sep 09 & it's yellowing on my AW.

1. Let the Paint Cure
2. Get the whole car detailed so that any imperfections don't show through from under the film 3. Clear Bra the whole front end and entire hood

Waste of money for whole hood. Did my AW front bumper, headlamps, and gonna do white carbon on the mirrors. 3k mi and no hood nicks. Bumper looks so-so. The hairlines where it wraps annoys me and looks dirty.

Update: gave my bumper wrap a good cleaning with tar and bug remover with special attention to the dirty lines and they cleaned up very nice! Feeling better about my clear bra now.... Last edited by Alpha///M; 06-11-2012 at 11:03 PM.. Reason: Update: |

I had the entire front end done when the car was new about a year ago. As stated a professional install with the proper preparation will achieve outstanding results. Here a link to a pictorial on how mine was done: http://www.autopia.org/forum/click-b...a-install.html
