Different new clicking sound
I started having a clicking sound come from the rear of my car. It only happens when the car is decelerating or off throttle. When the car slows down, the speed of the clicking slows with it and when at a stop it is gone.
I know there are a bunch of posts on clicking, but this is not the front rotors, nor is it the engine. Anyone have the same problem or maybe can shed some light on this? |

Maybe a stone stuck in the tread of one of your tires, or even worse, a nail or something stuck in your tire.

It's more difficult to hear over the engine/exhaust noise.

My bike used to do this as a kid - you don't have playing-card clothes-pinned between the one of the rear calipers and the wheel do you?

I don't know if it's the same noise, but mine had a similar issue that was diagnosed as the e-brake. The dealer tech said he had seen several M3s with the same problem. It was an easy fix, cleaning and lubrication.

Definitely not the tires. I drove around a little and noticed a few things.
Its not drowned out when on the throttle its not making the noise at all so long as the car is at a constant speed or just barely accelerating. It comes on as soon as the throttle is lifted. I tried putting it in nuetral while slowing. This for some reason made the sound not as loud but it was still there. Last thing was I took the car around an off ramp stressing the suspension a little and this noticeably lowered the volume of the clicking for a short while after, even while slowing in drive. Not sure why the e-brake would cause this but will check it out. Any other thoughts? |

Problem solved. Heat shield had gotten a little crinkled near the exhaust and was touching the car. It was remedied with some minor muscle and patience.
Thanks to all for trying to help. |
