akrapovic evolution emissions pass?
I have a 2011 e92 m3 and have been shopping around for an exhaust, I want hp gains and sound. Ive landed on the akrapovic evolution system. I live in illinois (chicago suburb) and am concerned with emissions. Anyone else have experience in this subject?? Also looking for a good installer for the exhaust in the area?

I'm not familiar wirh emissions testing in Illinois, but I don't think you are going to pass without switching out the evo x pipe for the stock x pipe. It is not convenient, but is doable

A tune to delete the readiness test will pass the computer but not a visual. A station that knows a m3 will see the cats are gone and fail it anyway. A station that is not familiar with a m3 will pass it because it has 2 cats and the DME says it is good to go. Most stations are not familiar enough to go "hey where are the 2 cats that go right here"
Be advised not all tuners will turn off the readiness check in a tune. I take it to the same clunker station every time and they dont look under it as they do not want the liability of putting a lowered car with a lip up on a lift.

I have passed with my full Evolve E-Tronic exhaust and Evolve tune with no problems. With my supercharger I put back my stock x-pipe and have passed as well (I am in Chicago)

I have the full Akra and the garage i bought it from in the UK said it would pass, when the MOT is up I will take it to their garage anyway. I had to get it remapped as the ECU thought there was a problem as the check engine light came on so i got the Akra remap done also and it fixed the problem.
Great system but one thing I will say is on the cold start it is LOUD! if you live in a close neighbour hood be wary that people might complain in the morning. |

We have had no problems with passing Illinois emissions with several customer cars running our Catless X-pipe and tune.
