2008 Interlagos Blue M3 listed as a 328i in Annapolis

At Koons Toyota in Annapolis, I had been watching this M3 for approx. 2 weeks. But there was no sticker on the car Well, this past sunday I stopped by and took a look, and they had the sticker on the. But, they put on there that it was a 2008 328i, with the wrong color, vin, and of course engine, and they wanted $19,600 for it, all total for $19,800. ANd it's not on their website

I stopped by on Monday as soon as they opened up and told them about the mistake, and the saleman said thanks, and that a guy who worked their wanted to buy it and and then flip it---i suspect he is the one who put the sticker on the car...not thinking that someone who knew cars would catch them. The saleman had said that if he were me, he would have tried to buy the car at the $19,800 price---I said no, because the higher ups wouldn't want to lose money on it (dealerships are in business to not lose money).
I also referenced that case where Bentley of Scottsdale had the 2008 Bentley on Ebay for $13,900 and a guy bought it, but the dealer balked because they forgot a zero---meaning it was $139,000...Ebay pulled the auction.

Just the nerve of some people to put up the wrong info on the sticker in hopes of nobody paying attention.

That is very noble of you

But it probably wouldn't have worked anyways if you had tried to buy it since the fact that you "knew" there was a mistake of some sort means the dealer could have backed out anyways, even after signing the papers

see and that is the problem, they are being shady. Because they labelled it a 335i, and they don't have it on their website, oddly they have a Porsche on the lot and on the site.
So, if someone wanted the M3, but they have it listed as a 335i, it's technically false advertising, leading to a sort of bait and switch...

They could probably be talked down...it looks to be in good condition when i saw it, apparently there might be a little curb rash on the front driver's side lower part of the front bumper, beneath the air intake, if I remember...it might have been just dirt.

They were trying to hide the car---they were purposely listed it as a 328i, and then a 335i, on the stickers, with VIN #'s of cars that were not on the lot, or apparently didn't exist...
a dude who worked there wanted to flip the car, so he and poosilbiy omeone else was hiding the fact that the car was on the lot (by not listing on the website) so that they could flip it.

I don't think it is false advertising or bait and switch. Mistakes happen all the time and bait and switch implies they advertise they have something at an incredibly low price, but have none in stock and try to get you into a more expensive model -- here they listed at more or less above market price & if the other reports are true, there was potential fraud on the employee's part, not the dealers'.

no, they had the car for at least two weeks. It was on the Toyota used car lot. They had a few other 3 series, but all had the correct VINs, and correct stickers, and all of those were listed on the website.
One of the salesman had said that an employee was trying to buy the M3 and then flip it.
They finally put a sticker on the car last weekend and labelled it a 328i, a 328i was next to it, a tan one. They had the Interlagos blue M3 labelled a diff color 328i...after I said something, then they labelled it a 335i...
That is two mistakes? And it was still not on the website. No, they were being
shady. Trying to hide the fact that the car was on the lot, and keep it for themselves.
What would have happened had I or someone else tried to get that car for the listed 19,600? Well, they would have said, "oh, it's a mistake, but we do have a 328i here...", and that is what they did when I inquired.
If one would have insisted, the higher ups would have not wanted to lose that money on the car, technically, the employee and the dealership can be sure for false advertising, as the employee represents the dealership.

As of yesterday, the car was put on Koons Toyota website---and they had the car for at least 2weeks? Come on.
