Gas up $.50 in 5 days

Just drove by Shelll Gas this morning an noticed 91 Octane is $4.85. I know gas is higher here in Nor Cal. Anyone else experience this in their neck of the woods?

Quite a chunk of it goes to taxes ... Sometimes I wonder where it all ends up ...

Guess here in Canada we pay for some of our Government Ministers Transportation costs ... The news this evening had one item that reported one of our Ministers spend $32,000- plus in the past 2 years on limo transportation when he travels

Actually gas went down .25 cents for 91 octane. It was $4.30 a gallon the past month now its $4.05-$4.09.

We regularly see 4.90+ but that's for 93. Still have yet to see the dreaded 5+ but am sure it's out there.

The price of gas is more related to the price of oil stock than it is to actual oil price. It is complicated. I personally don't care if prices go up (to an extent). I have enough invested in oil company stock that if their profits go up , I will likely have enough increase in investment return to offset the extra cost for my gas !!

not so much complicated as prices contain the BS Speculating... We really need to utlize our own resources as well; there's plenty of fuel in America to sustain us. That being said, I believe this year fuel exports were greater than imports which does go to question the costs involved. It reall is bullshit, and green cars are not the answer with gas vehicles now being ULEV cert. Don't even get started, let's let this thread fall to the bottom, it's aggravating

According to this, it's a refinery problem. http://www.businessinsider.com/calif...prices-2012-10

But, if you live in California, you know, instinctively, it has more to do with the buffoons in Sacramento.

Holy crap...that sucks. In Dallas, 93 octane is anywhere between $3.67 and $3.84 depending on the neighborhood I'm driving through, and I thought that was high. Prices near me have dropped about $.25 in the last couple weeks.

Yup, I paid 4.95 yesterday for 91. 80 Bucks. This is not an SUV!!!

If I had a Suburban it would be $153.45 a tank.. insanity. Then again we have it easier here than other parts of the world in the first place.

Just got home and read the articles. They said that it shouldn't last too long once everything is back up and running within weeks. Which only means that local gas stations are going to nail us a few extra weeks after that.

Agreed.

I really don't care about small variances in 93 octane, I pay 7-10 dollars a gallon now.

Way I look at it: Most of us have no reason to complain at all. Gas really is cheap in the US.

I'm thankful that I get to drive a beautiful car such as the M3 and when I hear that symphony of noises conducted by my right foot... I smile and forget about how much a paid at the pump. It's beautiful thing!

Up in dimes, down in pennies. There's always some BS reason they concoct to raise prices. Seriously, one plant has an issue and they go crazy. Same thing happens when it rains here...people have no idea how to adjust, they just overreact.
