All jokes aside, a couple of my buddies are doing just that...100 octane from 76 gas station, $7/gallon
I wasn't joking. 76 in Agoura on Chesebro - 91 was $4.95 and 100 was $8.25 - which for the record is down from $8.59 when I visited my parents in August. I threw in 1/2 tank.

Maybe we should have nominated Newt instead of Romney, he was promising $2/gallon during his campaign. Don't all politians keep their promises.

Filled up half tank in an X5 earlier. Over $5 in many places I passed today.

$65 for half a tank.

That 91 octane junk better give me some mileage!

Took this pic last Friday in west LA.

It still cheaper than Europe but we also drive longer distances on this side of the pond.

I don't get it!!

Was in Las Vegas yesterday, regular was going for $3.76-$3.79.

There is a "shortage" in CA but not NV???

I paid $4.09 for 91 (no ethanol) on my last fill-up. My ticket was $60.01, and I decided to calculate something I never had: how far I can get for a buck.

On my last tank, based on a normal week, it was just less than 4 miles.

I told my friend (who's got a Miata), and he said, "Just don't think about it, man..." Probably the best advice when you own a car like ours. Smiles per mile, right?

Anyway, who wins the award for least number of miles per $1 (American)?

In California, we have better air than Nevada. That's because we have the super dooper clean gas required by California law (politicians)

"Also contributing to the high prices, California law, in an effort to reduce air pollution, requires that gas stations during warmer months use a special blend of fuel that is not widely available.

State leaders -- and drivers -- hope to see gasoline prices drop soon because Gov. Jerry Brown (AKA moonbeam) has ordered the California Air Resources Board to allow so-called "winter-blend" gasoline to be sold in California earlier than usual to increase supply.

I detest using the San Jose Mecury News as a source but, here:http://www.mercurynews.com/californi...ifornia-record

What's all this whining and complaining. Even if gas is up $1/gal for a 20 gal tank you are only paying 20 dollar more per fill up. Don't tell me that's going to break the bank.

I'm pretty sure you have super dooper clean gas because your air sucks, which is natural when you try to cram a ton of people (and their cars and homes) in a small place.

Check out San Bernardino county. They had to come up with a level above red because the air quality's so crappy!

This says sooper dooper gas isn't that big of deal all of a sudden:http://www.washingtonpost.com/busine...945_story.html

Makes me wonder if it (California gas blending) isn't a sort of placebo.

Not trying to be argumentative but, for an alternative to the American Lung Association viewpoint, try this:

By the way, that's a great picture of your(?) kids in the back seat of the car. Makes me smile every time I see it.

Higher gas prices drives up prices on other goods as well. Neither may break our bank but I feel bad for those people struggling to make ends meet.

Haha - ouch! That hurts! Having lived for 9 years in Dallas and 8 in SoCal (LA/Santa Barbara), I'll chime in here. No doubt the coast is great, and there is a lot to do, but the ability to park, see wildflowers in the spring, enjoy seasons, and have conversations with people who aren't training to be screenwriters/yoga instructors/therapists is a nice break.

Sorry for the OT.

This is funny - I may have to move from LA to Dallas for work. Not hugely excited about it.

What is Dallas like? I've never been ...

Thats just one state bro. I honestly will never pay any bullshit California prices or taxes or obey any of their jacked up gun laws. Life is too short. I will still carry my California DL but thats about it.

Gas went down to $3.91 in Belfast today. So its dropping in multiple states.
