Question Fold mirrors at speeds > 25mph?

I was wondering if any of the coding gurus knew if it were possible to have the mirrors fold at speeds above 25mph. I've live in a old 'hood where the streets are narrow and full of old people in Cadillacs ... I'd love to fold them while driving those roads when I need to, in order to protect the mirrors from the country kitchen driving people.

much grass for any info.

Fold in or out?

My two e92's folded out above 30mph automatically if I didn't fold them out manually or deliberately folded them in to get pass a tight spot.

I don't know about you guys but it has always seemed no matter how small the gaps are the car always seems to make it through without touching anything. Maybe just slow down to 24.9mph if this is really bothering you, lol.

If you are driving close enough to be afraid of scraping your mirrors, you really shouldn't be going at speeds over 25mph.

25mph is usually the speed limit on residential streets anyway.

It's not a residential street, it's a boulevard, just in an old area. Speed limit is 40.

Regardless, if you need to fold your mirrors to not scrape, you should probably drive slower. The speed limit shouldn't be 40 if it wasn't safe to drive 40 mph without losing your mirrors. You can report that the speed is unsafe to the city so they can lower it if it is the case.

I've parked in spaces where I need to fold the mirrors or else the car won't fit. But in those situations, I would not move more than 5mph and usually have my head out the window so I make sure I clear. Most parking spots and garages built in the early 1900s like here in San Francisco are not designed to accomodate the huge cars we have now.

Driving slower at the speed at which the mirrors will stay folded in, is an infraction (impeding traffic). If the coding is possible, great, if not, not much I can do. After 30+ years of driving, being behind someone 15 under the limit is annoying and disrespectful; I'd rather keep up with traffic and not be one of "those". I do agree 40 is fast, but it is what it is, it won't change unless someone is killed.

I do appreciate the ideas though. Must not be much of a need as search on this turned up nothing.

Folding the mirrors at 60+ ought to be good for a little aero advantage!

I will have to try that folding feature. I am not sure why you would drive with them folded in?

In certain narrow roads ways, mirrors from other cars can smack them; and it was costly to get that cover replaced and painted.
