BMW M3 USA vs EU RPM
Hello guys,
Just considering buying an used M3 E90 and while searching some of the offerings, I noticed a slight difference between the USA and EU RPM tachometer. This is the USA version (as long as "Florida Import Deutsche Brief" means "Imported from Florida...") - see picture 4 The red line starts at 6500 RPM ... and for example this is the EU version - see picture 15 The red line starts at 7750 RPM. Is there any difference between those two? Thanks! |

They have the same redline. When the car is still warming up, the yellow/red actually moves. In mine it will go from starting where the US pics are to the EU ones in the first 10 minutes or so of driving. My guess is the US picture was taken right after starting, the EU one was warmed up

Looking even more closely, you can confirm exactly that - look at the oil temp on the bottom of the tach - the US one is pinned on the left, so its cold, the EU one is moving towards the middle where the normal operating temp is

Wow, thanks for your reply, this solves the question. Didn't even think this could be dynamic. Just out of curiosity - is the redline the same for 6MT and DCT?
