really hope he did. As someone else mentioned, repair on an aluminum bodied car is pricey.

Did $15k in damage to my Range Rover in a pretty minor front-end fender bender due to the high cost of aluminum repair.

Exactly. Powdercoating is quite safe, my track wheels were powdercoated nearly ten years ago, in a low temp bake and haven't had any problems. SSR has had QC issue with their stock wheels, I certainly wouldn't trust them stock, much less powdercoated with unknown QC.

Point is, you can trust a good powdercoater who understands what they're doing, but heat cycling anything aluminum doesn't help its longevity, but brakes can flush more heat into wheels than even high temps in pc.

Luckily the NSX has a bolt on fender so he can just replace the whole piece.

Im glad that the car wasn't going fast at the time of the wheel failure. That could have been so much worse.

Im curious if that M3 had a camera recording.

That sucks. Yeah, this is OLD news. I had SSR Comp wheels on one of my old subies. They didn't last more than a month through regular dd duties. Every single rim had a bend after driving in nyc. Horrible rims. That's why they earned the title "super soft rims"
