Thanks for this thread it's been very helpful. I just got the charger and installing now but stuck on the final step of connecting to the 12v lighter (I'm in an e90 as well). Do I only disconnect and connect the bottom piece or both top and bottom? If both, how do I disconnect the top piece?

How long did this take to install it looks like the wires are super short so not really feasible to get all the way to the back seat, just reading the instructions
I am highly interested in this. Have an s21+ |

Reinstall and done. Getting the console cover properly popped back in will probably be the most time consuming part if you haven't done it in the past.

So I've had mine installed for a while now and I have to say that overall this product has much better feedback on this site than it deserves. Either the performance of some modules is much worse than others, or it's generally "a bit crap".
It's quite nicely made, and given that the adapter from the cigarette lighter socket to the charger is only 15W max output (why? the lighter is capable of waaay more), it is never going to be a fast charger. All of the Qi chargers in my house are much faster. I've tried mine with: Iphone 11 : connects but charges very slowly, OK if the phone not in use Pixel 4 : connected to my radio by BT, does not charge fast enough to keep the phone charged, just slows the discharge down. As this is my main phone this is most disappointing. Also sensitive to which way around the phone is. Moto edge+ : does not charge, but the phone is huge. Galaxy S7: charges slowly but probably the best of the ones tried. Oneplus 9 : does not charge

So far I have found it works fine for all of the phones in my family (iPhone8, iPhone12, S21), in that it charges all of them. None have any problems with location, charges fine turned either way or one end or the other of the pad. Charging speed is not great, as mentioned many times in this and other posts, but for my needs is adequate. The car is not used often or for long distances, so as long as it keeps my phone from discharging while streaming music and what not then I am happy with it. Perhaps at some point they will have an upgraded model, but in my case that would not be needed.

For what its worth, the coil alignment may or may not be a problem on some phones. If I spin my iPhone and it slides too far off to the side, its no longer over the coil so high G turns may knock it around. I can see on the carplay when it's not charging though and I just nudge it a half inch over. I have an Edge + I haven't tried in the car, but it sounds like you might be dealing with alignment issues and spinning the phone 180 might help get better alignment with the coil. Some of these big mega phones now use a ton of juice, for my day to day this is still a great addition and it's a lot handier than an ash tray. If I really need more juice (for example if my phone is nearly dead and I'm only going to be in the car for 20 min) I have the fast 12V charger in the console just in case.

I had this in my e90 335 for ~6 months, as others have said it's super easy to install and looks native which was what I wanted. However, when I got my M3 I didn't install it again because the charging issues discussed above happened to me with my iPhone 11. If it wasn't centered it just wouldn't charge.
I wanted something I could turn on and off, and which would hold the phone during "spirited driving". I installed a Pitaka magnetic mount(https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1) on this arm (https://www.ecstuning.com/b-rennline...8aAqNwEALw_wcB) along with this case(https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1) so I could still use any wireless charging pads. I ran the cable under the center console and have a QC charger in my armrest which I can plug in or leave out. The magnetic mount works all the time. BONUS: the stand has a fan to cool the phone/charger if needed, which living in Florida comes in handy. |

I ordered the OEM wireless charger that replaces the snap in adapter. It's for an F30 but I'm 90% sure it's going to fit just fine. Got it on Ebay for 70 EUR which is dirt cheap. There are a few more on there, just offer less money.

Quick question before I purchase this: from the pictures, it looks like the screen is tilted towards the dash. Ideally, I want the phone tilted towards me, so that I could see the screen while it charges. Would someone be willing to test if the mount can just be rotated 90 degrees? Thanks!

I just bought one of these. Just so people are aware what you are getting now is a different product from what OP shows.
When you buy this there are two options, you can get just the wireless charger for $99 if your car has the oddments tray already. Or for $139 they include the oddments tray which is what OP shows. What's different now is that Induktiv no longer uses the OEM BMW oddments tray. You can see the BMW markings on the tray that OP posted. What they are using now is a cheap copy of that tray and are selling it for more than what ECS/FCP charges for the OEM part. When mine arrived I took it out of the box and was disappointed right away at the quality of the cheap shiny plastic tray part which had scratches and marring on the finish. I figured whatever it's just a tray and pulled my center console apart to install. The fitment is awful and there were noticable gaps no matter how it was adjusted. The mounting screw holes in their tray are oval so you can move it around in the console to adjust it to fit but no matter what there will be uneven gaps. The OEM part has smaller circular mounting holes because the tray fits perfectly and doesn't need adjustment and there are no gaps as you can see in the OP. I reached out to Indukiv and explained, they said the new tray is an exact copy of the OEM part. It's not. The material is different, it's not a good fit and it looks like shit. So I am going to try to get a refund on the $40 cost of the tray to replace it with the OEM part and put their wireless charger in it. The charger itself works fine. So yeah buy the OEM oddments tray (51169198283) separately, get the induktiv charger by itself and you'll be happy. |

Does anybody else find that this thing sucks? Installed it in my car and it's unbelievably finicky. The phone has to be on the EXACT perfect spot in the tray for it to work, and taking even moderate turns during completely normal driving runs the risk of moving the phone slightly and disconnecting it from the pad. Even when it is charging, it charges hilariously slowly (I'm talking like 2% over a 90 minute drive) and even sometimes drains the battery from my phone. I also sometimes get warnings that the phone needs to cool down before it'll continue charging. I'm constantly fidgeting with my phone to get it in the exact correct placement. Has anyone else found that this is a waste of time? And if so, does anyone have any alternatives? I love the concept, just not sure that this product is it.
