4.45 FD Differential?
Hey guys,
I know a lot of people here have experience with the 4.10 gears on the M3 6MT, but has anyone tried/heard anything about 4.45 gears? I noticed Turner has them for sale for the E92 M3. I know the 4.10s give a 6.5% increase in torque to the wheels, so the 4.45s would give a 13% increase, of course at the cost of 13% lower top end/faster shifts. To me, the 4.45s might be a pretty powerful tool for a properly modified 6MT M3, getting twice the benefit of the gearing change versus a 4.10 setup. I come from the E46, where the 4.10 gears are a 13% change over stock, and many are happy with their gears. Basically I'm thinking about trying these gears out and seeing how they are. I'm not worried about the top speed loss, because even 150mph is plenty fast for me. I'm actually thinking that the lower speeds in each gear will actually make the car a lot more fun at lower speeds around town. Anyone know anything about them? Thanks in advance!

Are you certain that 4:45 gearing is for an e9x M3?
That would sure increase acceleration and torque..but you will also be reving much higher in all the gears..may be a bit much for the street not to mention higher gas consumption |

Like you, I'm not sure how the benefits and negatives will weigh out. Just curious if there's any way to get some knowledge without trying them myself.

On a street car you don't want to go above 4.10s. Not unless you want to run slicks everywhere you go.
