I don't have the patience and skill to make it look 100% perfect, but the improvement was huge when I did my hood.

I'm in teh same boat and as I will bound to get many more in teh years to come I just want something to help me stay on top of it. Its crazy for teh car seriously seems to be getting better and better as the miles rack up. Already have 1200 miles on the M1 0W-40 and love it. 70+ weather tomorrow means time for a long over due thorough bath.

I had the same happened to my car: 1 ding on the crease. I purchased Dr.Colorchip for SSII. Didn't match. Oh well, I live to drive the car, and not to cry over little things.

I just used OEM Space Gray and I found it very acceptable, maybe I got a good batch or Space Gray is an easy match I don't know. Also, if this happened to me a month after I drove off the lot with brand new M3, I could see wanting to make brand new again. However, my M3 is several years old now, probably just like OP's, and I just learn to accept minor dings, scrapes, scratches etc. I'll fix the bad ones with touch-up if I can, but otherwise, as my car gets older I just accept the fact it's not going to look brand new anymore, and thus minor stuff like that doesn't bother me too much. |

Did it today. Was hoping the color would be a little closer. I'll probably do another layer tomorrow to try and fill the dent more.

This was a huge chip that they said it "wouldn't" work for. From 5 feet you can't see it. And it covered 7 other rocks chips on my car that are now unnoticeable. |

Did you see my update in the first post? And a camera 1/2 a foot away is much different than somebody 5 feet away. I'll do one more layer then I'll be happy. If I get another door ding. I'll do a repaint.

Dr Colorchip is pretty good. Mainly it is for small rock chips and such... once you use it on large chips as a paint/filler, it doesn't work that well. The fluid you use to wipe it down removes the touch up paint from the big chips. On small chips, it doesn't remove the paint in the chip so it looks fine.

I have the same exact door ding on my alpine white e90 M3 on the same exact spot. Had a PDR guy come and massage it out then he had his Dr Color Chip partner come and blend it in... came out exactly like that. I don't notice it anymore either unless I am looking for it. |
