Selling the M Coupe, buying an M3 and need advice.

So I'm going to be selling the M Coupe and 5 series because I want to consolidate down to one do-everything car, a 2011 M3. I'll be leasing and want to do euro delivery so I can do a little Skyline Run in the Alps

I've been working with a new guy at BMW of Sterling, his name's Karl. He's definitely new but whats great about that is he doesn't act like a sales guy and has been great so far. I just got approved for the lease so I'll be going in Tuesday to negotiate and pick out options.

It'll be a Coupe, MW, Black/Red seats, Carbon Leather, and I want to get almost every option - Premium, Competition, Cold Weather, Convenience, DCT, rear sunshade, Aps and I'll buy the Carbon Splitter and mirror caps on my own and put them on when I pick up the car. The only thing I'm leaving out is the Premium Audio - is it worth $2k? Really the question is, how bad is the standard audio?

So it comes to $74k on the website, what should I expect to pay? I'd imagine it's $69k after the euro delivery discount and I'd want to get as much off that price as possible.

Has anyone done Euro delivery? What was your budget? How can I keep it cheap? Best plane tickets I could find were $1200 round trip, nonstop.

Congrats.

Personally, I would NOT do ED with a "New Guy". There are too many steps and lots of things that can go wrong when not working with a seasoned ED vet. Also, the exact price and discount should be communicated well before you order. There are a few pros here on this site that specialize in ED with excellent pricing. Just my two cent's.

I like my sales rep but if it makes that much of a difference, I guess I could switch. I'd feel bad for the guy though.

I priced out ED when I ordered. It was about $3.5k less than US invoice. Shoot David at Eurocarsonline an email. He's only an hour up the road. If your guy gets close to David price fine. If not, David's your guy.

I'm not a big music guy. The premium sound is not worth the money. Many people say if you're going to pay that same amount you can get a lot better aftermarket audio. Most of the time, I have it off and listen to the engine and exhaust.

anyways, I got premium sound, if you want to meet up, you can test it out.

OP-Excellent Options-exactly what I would be getting as well. With re: to ED-best to deal with someone with a lot of experience. Ryan Amico is your man for the job.

I didn't get premium audio and the only thing I regret about it is the looks of the silver trim Most of the time the audio is turned down/off since I want to listen to the engine/exhaust. I say spend the extra on getting an individual paint color

What's another $2k on top of $70k+?

Audio is always on when I'm in the car, whether it be music or Sports Junkies and having the premium sound is noticeably different with the Highs/Mids/Lows.

Dad's 535xi doesn't have premium sound and yea... huge difference.

$2k is $2k and for me, thats a new 60" LED TV. I'd rather have that than slightly better audio in the car.

I'll see what the difference comes to on the monthly payment and how much of that $2k am I going to be buying over 3 years. If I'm paying $500 for it over 3 years, then yeah, but if it's any more than that, it's not worth it.

Based on my calculations, monthly payment on a used M3 is very similar to the monthly payment on a leased new M3 with ED. So in the end, the difference isn't really enough. Then take into account that the used one will go over the maintenance/warranty period and the new one wont, the 3 year cost is probably equal.

It's personal opinion but I don't feel the $2K is worth it. They are better than the standard system but the standard system is not too bad. It's even better than the Harmon Kardon premium system that I had in the E46 M3, IMO. You should be able to audition them at the dealer. But remember that audio always sounds best when the car is not in motion. If you can listen to it while test driving then so much the better. Also do listen to it in the M3 as the other 3 series don't have the same "enhanced premium audio" as the M3.

Cheers.
