Rahal-Letterman @ 24 hrs of Le Mans?

I have searched on line and have not found a definitive answer. Will the new E92 Rahal Letterman M3 be racing at Le Mans? I know it will debut at Sebring but will it be at Le Mans in June? I am thinking about booking a trip for my first Le Mans. Anyone?

From my understanding, in order to compete in the 24 hours of LeMans, major modifications need to be made to the ALMS-spec M3 in order to conform to class specs for racing outside of the ALMS. Last I heard, the changes needed are too significant that entry for at least the 2009 LeMans race will not be possible, if ever. I guess it will depend on how well the ALMS car runs in 2009 and how successful its development will be throughout the season to warrant reaching out into other racing series.

i heard they are having funding problems.. and its possible they might back out...

Wow, you are both bumming me out...I am really looking forward to the 09' ALMS season and was really hoping to see the new M3 at Le Mans in June. I will likely repost on this in a couple months to see what you and others know. Thanks for your replies.

Time will tell, with the economy as it is worldwide BMW will need to show its presence in the market place. What's the old saying, race on Sunday, sales on Monday!

I'd be amazed if BMW was willing to enter it in the LM 24hrs in just its first year of competition, especially as a GT2 class car.

It definitely won't be at Le Mans this season. Maybe 2010 or 2011 depending on the rules and the success of the car in ALMS.

They had one of the Rahal/Letterman cars in the RAY'S/Volk both @ SEMA. It was beautiful.
