Couldn't agree more! The things I enjoyed most about my E-36 M-3(3200+ lbs) was the tactile intuitive steering & the nimble handling due to the 3200 lb weight of the car. Now these genius's at BMW have added another 500 lbs(if this article is correct) & the steering is lacking. What are they smoking? The 2008 Z-51 Corvette has improved the steering to Bmw standards, installed a new Ls3 motor that makes 436hp/428 torque with a bi-modal exhaust, that weighs just under 3300 lbs fully loaded with options, & with the current discounts you"ll wind up paying about $51,000 plus tax etc for a fully loaded coupe that will handle like it's on rails.(I know those who are Bmw elitists wouldn't urinate on the best part of a vette because it's too "blue collar"), but for the rest of us who have an interest in & own different makes of enthusiast rides, the new M-3 appears to be shaping up as a disappointment. 414 hp & 3600/3700 lb weight is not competitive anymore.Imho.

Hey the E36 M is great. I used to think it was the first and last BMW I would ever own. When the E46 M came I snubbed my nose at it like the rest of the E36 owners on bimmerforums and dtmpower. Of course, after actually riding in one and seeing its many layers, I changed my mind. I dont the new M is going to be any different. I, for one, am super excited to receive my E92 M sometime next spring.
