Hello from relatively new member

Hey guys/gals,
I am relatively new and would like to say hi. I started lurking in Jan 2012 for 3-4 months, joined in April and started posting more often recently.

My former and recently changed name was NJA///M3. I decided to use some of my family members’ name syllables came up with ///Machine. More personal, but still not as good as M3RD though…

Thank you all so much for sharing your knowledge. Today I know so much more about M3s than my wife would know or approve (c’mon we married guys had trouble one at one point or another).

I love this forum, it’s almost addictive. Not good for work, but work is slow now, when it picks up I’ll deal with withdrawal.

Brief history: born and raised in Brazil, so drove POS all my early life (although learned to drive at 11 yo, at 12 I was the designated highway driver for my parents – my parents were so irresponsible). Moved to US for grad school in 2000. Relocated to NYC, married, kids, suburbia -> hello BMWs !!!

Brief car history: 2002 E46 325 -> 2008 E90 328i -> 2011 E93 M3 (*) -> 2011 E70 X5d

(*) I was so in love with my M3, but my “we-need-a-family-car –wife” and uncertainty with job security made me change to something more family oriented/less money. So I changed, but think about that car every day, I mean every day.

Now I am again borderline obsessed with M3s again (for you more experienced guys, does it ever go away? Although 40 something yo, I just drove an M3 for the first time in 2009, so new at this). My plan is to get another one next year. Bummer, recent restrictions to allocation free EDs, but I’ll find a way when the time comes (used, domestic delivery, anything).

Why do I appreciate this forum so much? You members! A very eclectic pool of people willing to share/fight/make peace/be blunt when needed. There are pot-stirrers, peace-makers, fire-spreaders, generally good guys/gals. I love it that when someone messes with Rolf D. the whole forum comes to his defense. I enjoy some gang-bangs on trolls (PG-13). And also enjoy some of the more blunt and sarcastic members. I am almost always sarcastic, so don’t take things the wrong way!

How can I help you/the forum: my background is in finance so feel free to reach out if you have questions re financing. I’ve spent WAY too much time with lease, financing and balloon financing spreadsheets. I’ll try to chime in when financing comes around.

Other than that, I’ll see you around.

Machine

Welcome to the forum.

I was also born and raised in Brazil. It's been so long ago that it seems like I lived another life. )
I grew up reading "Quatro Rodas" and screaming after ever Piquet's win... and dreaming of BMWs...

I just picked up my E92 M3 two weeks ago in Munich and I was blown away by the car... A beast, albeit a very good looking beast!!!

On another note, my wife is another BMW fanatic and she drives a 2012 X3. She supported me all the way to get my M. Lucky me.

OMG Odie,
Quatro Rodas magazine brings me back. That was in fact the first time I ever saw pictures of an M3 and an M5. Both black, side by side, on a green grass background. One flash of my early car memories. Love at first sight.
Lucky you your wife is on board. I am bringing mine on board slowly. She has an E90 328xdrive now. Not a Brazilian wife for me though.
Oh I dreamt of BMWs all right. Know the feeling.
I'll pm you some time re your ED experience.
Good to meet a fellow Brazilian here.

After we sat in the x5d there was no way we could let the e92 M3 go, so add it to your stable again soon. Good forum, good people and the addiction part I understand too........all the best!

W/B. Sometimes, we do have to make sacrifices; that includes selling our beloved items such as an M3.

ChiTownM,
Although mine was an E93, the feeling is exactly the same. I respect the X5d a lot, but gimme my M3 back.
All the best.

Yep, sacrifices are a part of life, then we stand up, dust off, and come back with a vengeance.
It's not how we fall, but how we get up.
Cheers

That's a great idea, especially the f10, that ought to settle things.

Thanks, I am sure 2013 will be the year again. If there is a will, there is a way. Actually, if there is will and $.
Glad to be here.
