Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

http://www.chp11-99.org/index.htm however the reason to become a member and so-called "privileges" of being an 11-99 member is/has been a subject of some debate...

You can still donate, but they stopped giving out the license plate frames many years ago. I think most people are just having them made themselves.

Benefits... i have gotten away so many tickets for the last 10 years... i had the KMA plate for about 10years and not once i had been pulled over... well i have been pulled over like 5 times in 10 years but always gotten away of the ticket with a warning.... for some reason they always ask me where you get your license plate frame.. MY RESPONSE... MY UNCLE, COUSIN IS A LAPD..... plus if i ever get one anyways... ill just give it to my uncle so he can talk to who ever gave me the ticket...
Quote:
yea the link exactly sums it up.. UNCLE, COUSIN are in the sheriff and LAPD In Los Angeles County. ONLY LAPD OR SHERIFF ARE ABLE TO ACCESS THE KMA LICENSE PLATE HOLDER OTHER THAN THE FAKE ONCE OUT THERE... if you get caught with a fake one they will fine you more... LOL You see it on license plate frames all over Los Angeles. What does KMA-367 mean anyway? KMA-367 was the official Federal Communications Commission (FCC) call sign for Los Angeles Police Department radio transmitters from 1948 through the 1980s. Those driving around with these license plate holders are associated with the LAPD. Seen less frequently are license holders displaying KMA-628, associated with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

plus when a cop pulls you over, they will ask you if you have the membership card from 11-99 to see if your plate is legit. most cops knows about and are aware about the fake once and they are good at looking at it...

Actually the license plate covers are back. The foundation was way down on donations so they re-instated them with different color schemes to indicate donation level...
http://www.chp11-99.org/usr_doc/Application2011.pdf $2500 gets you a "classic" membership...but I'll bet you anything the $25,000 "gold" membership is the new get a warning vs. ticket license plate cover. I'm actually considering donating @ the classic level on the off chance that it gets me one 100+ ticket reduced to 90+...the classic membership pays for itself after lawyer, fines, insurance increase etc. Not to mention the IRS write-off. |

I've had a KMA-628 and I never got away with shit in 7 years of driving with it on. My father actually is part of a planning committee for the LA County Sherriff's department. He gets away with things because he has an actual badge, however, he gave me the plate frame and it hasn't worked once for me.
I was only asked once where I even got it when I was pulled over for speeding, and the dude proceeded to write me up for speeding, tint, excessive lowering, no front license plate. There's no such thing as a magical get-away-from-tickets pass. In fact. I've been driving around with dealer plates for the past half year and I've gotten less attention than with my KMA-628 plate frame. I think that stuff just draws unnecessary attention to yourself. Also, my friends within the Anaheim PD tell me of instances where people follow cars with those plate frames home and gun them down on their front doorstep. Either way, these plate frame's don't really do anything in the big scheme of things I think. |

I had a CHP-11 99 Plate and I thought it was a pile of BS.
I got pulled over more and harassed more with the plate than I do with it. I understand that part of the reason for the frame was for the perks, but I think its one of those double edge swords. I personally thought that the cops/chp know you have that plate because you tend to get in trouble.
