Baby got a new set of shoes...

I put off as long as possible hoping that Mich would release the PSS in a 285/30/19 to no avail. A buddy of mine who has a 997.2S told me he got a set of Continental Contisport 5P tires and he loved them. Checked on line and sure enough they make this tire in a 255/35/19 and 285/30/19 sizes. Went on Ebay to see if anyone was selling a set, and I find a brand new set being auctioned but in the MO (Mercedes OEM) configuration for the SL65 opening bid of $899.00. I make a bid for $900 and I get an email two days later that I won the bid. These are brand new tires that sell for over $1400 at Tirerack.

The tires were located about 45 minutes from San Diego and I decided to drive down and take a look at them, sure enough they were brand new. Paid the money and had them installed there.

Here is a pic after I got home..

Had them about 200 miles and went Canyon cruising last night and happy to report these are excellent tires. Definitely a step up over the Invos I had. I have read some reviews on the tires and they got extremely good reviews.

I was going to go with the Vredestein Vortis in this size, but when I got ahold of the tech specs for this tire I was concerned that the 255/35/19 with the Vorti was almost 26.2" tall, the Invos were just over 26" tall and they almost rubbed. The Conti 5Ps are right at 26" tall, 25lbs while the rears are 25.8" tall and just at 27lbs. Quite a bit lighter than the Vortis as well.

I would consider them a really good alternative for those that want a very good tire along the lines of a PSS but want the GTS sizes.

BTW, can't believe my baby is almost 3 yrs. old..

Dave

Have you noticed your traction control kicking in without the 1/2 inch stagger maintained front to rear?

The car will think the rear is loosing traction because it's turning faster than it's supposed to compared to the front. Or have you coded for those sizes?

No spacers...

4corners, it really is a non issue. The DSC still lets you get away with some shenanigans and even Ben at Tirerack said it really is not a big deal. I do find it to be a tad more intrusive when trying to get on the gas midcorner. It will shut down an attempt of a slide coming out of the corner, but wasn't that much different when it had the OEM sizes.

Also, just turn off the DSC when you want it to slide.
