Synchro Rev Match on MANUAL TRANS.. WHAT??

The new 370z has a syncro rev match that will blip the transmission, to match the lower gear revs in a downshift, IN MANUAL..

i've been trying to find out a little more on how this works.. When would it blip the throttle, as your foot is being released from the clutch??

anyone try this feature? seems like too much for me but definetly interesting to see this system in a manual..

(tried to get a link to explain further but no luck..)

ive been questioning this too. not much info on nissan website. atm im guessing its an auto heel-toe shift type thing.

They have a few in stock here. I am going to test this out as soon as this crapola weather moves out. I will let you know what's up...or down. The reviews (one video is on here some where) says it is actually quite the little gizmo.

When you push in the clutch, shift down, and release the clutch, the computer blips the throttle without any input as the clutch is re-engaged. I think it's brilliant. I might try to test drive one within the near future.

+1 Reminds of one Z driver I know from work that brags about entering 90 degree turns from 80+ mph shifting from 5th to 2nd - he didn't understand the concept after I explained it.

Maybe Nissan is trying to lower the insurance rate on these cars if fewer of them get wrapped around trees.

it's fucking convenient. what's not to get. i would instantly swap out for a 6mt if bmw offered this feature (well...i would right now regardless of the synchro rev match, but that's beside the point). traffic's heavy where i am and this would be perfect for when i don't feel like heel-toeing like a mofo.

you can turn it off too, so there's nothing to bitch about.

Umm... if you're driving in heavy traffic, you shouldn't NEED heel-toe anyway. Why would you need a rev-matched downshift in that circumstance?

I think its pretty cool, but don't our BMW's have something similar already. I know its not for the same purpose, IE performance. But it is for convience. When you have cruise control on and you downshift, the car rev matches on the downshift.

We should get rid of DCT's and automatic transmissions too, because they emulate manual transmissions... except shifts are much faster and more convenient.

actually anytime you downshift you should always rev match....less stress on trans and clutch

Modern cars (i.e newer than the '60s) can (and do) survive hundreds of thousands of miles without revmatching on normal downshifts. Not talking about simply mashing it into lower gears at speed, but normal downshifting in day to day driving.

Most revmatching on daily driving downshifts is just mechanical masturbation done by young guys who want to feel like race car drivers and feel superior about their driving skills, but not actually doing anything beneficial.

My car can make 5 more hp on premium fuel, but unless I'm on the track, it's not necessary and won't make a bit of difference.

Wow, sounds really interesting. I´d love to see how it actually works in real life. Probably never a good as a good heal and toe but then again most don´t know how to do it anyway.
