vs the NEW 2014 Camaro Z28
Looks like Chevrolet brought out a surprise during the NY Auto Show...the Z28 Camaro!! It looks pretty nice and has some awesome standard equipment. Just wanted to get everyone's thoughts on this.

I really hope BMW steps up with the M4... I bet this car will be silly fast. I don't like the looks but that's subjective... objectively, this car will be a beast and at a similar weight to the E92 M3 at 3,800lbs.

i deff like the front end vs the older model, the back end idk tho, seems they changed that on purpose so the c7 corvette looks more unique......not bad for the price tho, interior is still so blahhhh tho....you cant even get a nav screen i think.

This is a track focused car. Whatever they deemed as unnecessary for the track, they left off or got rid of it. This Z/28 will be not joke. It will destroy on the track. And, it looks great too

Looks pretty damn good. A nice and welcome facelift. I'm hoping those tail lights have an interesting design inside because they just look like boring rectangles from the small pictures I just saw.

Will be an awesome vehicle, however, 15k brakes on a camaro will be difficult to swallow if needing replacement. |

I think it's pretty cool but only 500hp from a 7 liter engine? 7 liters ?!?! That's disappointing. Also it's still monstrously huge and poor visibility.

I for one am happy to see GM produce a track dedicated car right from the factory and it got me thinking about next year's Grand Am/ALMS merger. Maybe the US makers are gearing up for a major push of sports car racing to raise its profile to the same level as NASCAR/Indy in the states and GM is trying to get in the forefront. I am jumping to conclusions, but if sports car racing rose anywhere close to that level, it would be something.

This Chevy "small block" weighs 458 pounds, compared to 445 for the S65. It's also slightly more compact overall compared to the bimmer. Pretty close overall, wouldn't you say? Except for overall power and torque, of course. Bruce |

http://www.mastmotorsports.com/2010/...Engines&id=155 Put a cam and some software in that Z28 and 75-100HP will be gained quite easily for little money I am looking to build a Resto-mod 67-69 Camaro with an LS7 or LSX and a 6 speed once I get my garage done, should be fun! |

This is one of those strings that keep me in this forum.
Chevy announces a serious-as-a-heart-attack race car, and this string is filled with posts about the looks, and 15K for replacement brakes is a lot for a Camaro, and the power per liter isn't very high, and who would buy it if A/C isn't standard, and... OK, there were some posts by more informed people (and you know who you are), but really, this forum is often a laugh a minute... Listen, did you guys miss the part about no sound deadening? That piece alone means this car just won't be street driven, smog-legal or not. In any event, this car will very likely be knocking on the below-7:30 door at the 'Ring, but nobody in their right mind would use it as a daily driver. Think ACR Viper, or somesuch. Not to be compared with the M3 in any way. Bruce |

Disagree, not all of us grew up in a time when not having butt warmers was considered roughing it. I would happily roll with this as a toy car. It's what I'm hoping for with the Z06.

I'm thinking, why didn't they go to this extreme with any model of the vette?

Well, you could argue that the Z06 did. Its the lightest of the vettes, and is the true track car of the bunch. Also, this is the new GM, not when the C6 was developed. I can bet you anything the new Z06 will be more extreme in this regard. Cant wait!

The high end ZL1 and others are truly great performers, and handle well. I will give them that... but this is not something I could sit in day in and day out and enjoy - full stop. the bunkered feeling is not for me either, I am short, and it just doesn't work. I want to see where I am going, and see all around me. I'll stick to my BMW and wait for the M4.
