Stuck in the middle of no where!!

I have a low oil light on. I\'m literally in the mountains, and the only quart of oil I have is 0w-40 mobile one. Is that okay to use??

Yes you can use that oil weight. Not optimal, but better than running low in my opinion.

People have asked before and iirc people said to avoid using anything but the 10w-60.

To the OP, how low is the oil?

It's at the min line. In yellow. It just turned on today

How long til you will be in civilization? 0w-40 is very lightweight. I wouldn't use it personally.

Depending how far you're from being able to add the right oil, I'd leave it alone or just add 1/2-qt of your M1. If you're close to an oil change, and will drive the car several hundred miles, put the whole bottle.

SOLUTION: Either keep your oil always topped off (like I always do), or carry a bottle in your trunk. And to be consistent, always perform oil checks in your garage, not by relying on the random reading the computer throws while under way. Good luck.
