Really?

Those mags tend to be a tad generous.
IMO, Edmunds Insideline is the most accurate. 12.71@112

BTW, Edmunds has the ML63 doing the 1/4 in 13.3@105 and 0-60 in 4.7

Magazine numbers are altitude corrected to sea level in order to standardize and compare all test numbers at their full potential.

Most of the people who go to the dragstrip do not get timeslips with altitude correction factor, which is why the trap speed is lower and the ET will not reflect what the magazine numbers achieve since they measure using sea level as the standard. Most of those timeslips have very low density altitude meaning they were timed at far above sea level.

The equation for WHP loss at higher altitude and density altitude is:

112 - 113 mph is the most plausible trap speed for the M3 coupe and sedan.

First, I could go and find you other mag tests where the m3 only trapped 110 mph or 111 mph and in more cases than the two you just shows.

Second, 113 MPH is NOT 114 mph. And the other test is an anomaly. See below.

About 5 years ago when the 2005 997S came out, R&T did a test where the 997S ran a 12.3@115...while I could easily pull up the test and say hey thats what they run and trap, i know that wasnt the case. They were a 111-112 trap car. The 997.2S traps ~115/116 though.
Car mag times are not always very accurate.

Here is a modded m3 that only trapped 115. It had software, rear seats removed, x pipe, drag radials, DCT, pulleys, and a lightweight battery. So even with 100+ lbs weight reduction and some good power mods it isnt trapping much more than 114.

Here is a bone stock DCT m3 time by an actual owner. 12.99@108

I could go on dragtimes and find many more examples...but i think you get the point.

From a roll, yeah. Theres an M5board vid of an M3 barely beating an X5 M from a roll, but I reckon you can take on the Ml63. From a dig, it's really up to your launch but I still think the M3 has a great chance.
