Why spend thousands on a custom exhaust when your stock exhaust sounds this good???

You know--there are a ton of threads out there that talk about the different exhaust upgrades available for the M3. And I have to tell you, I am having a difficult time making up my mind if the expense of changing everything is really worth it! I mean; it seems to me the 'M' engineers got it right with the stock exhaust. I did a little experiment to see how my own stock system sounds to everyone else on the outside; and I have to say, the stock system is awesome. Mean and menacing; is how a friend described it. So, what are the benefits to the aftermarkets? I have to say though, I have to give props to 'Pencilgeeks' Ericsson titanium system--that does sound pretty darned good.

I don't know; what do you think???

I am with you, I am not a fan of obnoxiously loud exhausts. It already sounds great, I am going to spend my money else where on something like the 3.62 diff.

The M exhaust is just to quiet IMHO, and not all alternatives are expensive either. Take the REMUS Race or Sport options for example, both sound GREAT and for an even GREATER price.

Well, I'm not old--for starters. And I feel they got the 'bellow' right at the factory! No need to be rude.

I think I'm leaning towards this too...it does sound pretty good. Never knew how good until I took the vid.

Ah, the stock exhaust is definitely mean! Well... when you do it like this of course...

My three favorite...

1. Kriessieg Valvetronic
2. No Muffler
3. Rogue Engineering Diablo Race Prototype

you're gonna love it!

The stock exhaust just have a nice note but it's way too quiet and looks terrible. I got the AA exhaust installed last week and no more ugly canister from the rear and it has that exotic note that the stock exhaust hints at but doesn't fully unleash.

WAY too quiet. Im not a fan of the super loud exhausts, though they sound nice, I wouldnt want one. But the stock is just too quiet.

This isnt a luxury 7 series, its meant to be heard.

The OEM exhaust for me was too quiet and too heavy and I didn't like the way it looked. I went with an exhaust that shaved off about 38 pounds, gained about 16 HP, and it doesn't show under the rear bumper. It was a winning situation all around pound for pound, dollar for dollar, one of the best mods you can do for your car.

You can't think that big ugly hunk of metal looks good. I love the sound of stock but I think its just to quiet.

have you heard one in person or just videos online?

because videos online are not a good measure, they must be heard in person and its a whole different world!!

I love my Eisenmann Race

even though i complain bout my exhaust set up being too loud, there's no way i am going back to stock...its just too quiet. now i am thinking of going remus sport/ eisenmann sport.

You have a good point; it does hang a little low...and the two 'straps' don't look too sexy either....

How many miles do you have on your car? Sounds much quieter than my stock exhaust...maybe its the camera?

whereabouts are you from?

And you will never understand until you hear it in person, when the first few exhausts started to come to the market about a year or so ago, I listened to all the videos and they nearly sound the same in the crappy quality videos we see. I ordered my Eisenmann Race and especially after the break in period with the exhaust, the sound was totally different from the videos i watched online, it was 1000000x better!!!

I only have about 1400 on the car; the camera is a FlipHD--seems to do ok...does it get louder as it breaks in?
