The weather here is about 45-50 on a good day, then i did put a x-pipe, but then swapped back to oem. but after that on start up, my back side muffler area produced this rattle noise, but it goes away after warmed.

I had the same thing, I just had it fixed yesterday. There are "isolator" bushings (rubber) that were worn. It's right above the x pipe support brace. They put spacers in and it's gone. Oddly enough it sounded like the rattle was coming from the right muffler. Hope this helps.

I had mine fixed last week, some lining was rattling against my exhaust. Lift it up, start it, get under and tighten it up.

Maybe the pipes don't have enough clearance and are sitting to close to something possibly a heat shield. Don't forget heat expansion, it rattles when cold and as soon as it gets hot and expands it stops making contact with whatever it's hitting. Exhaust tends to move and stick out a bit more towards the back when hot

If it goes away when warm then look for something that would make sense that on expansion it would go away. ie. Bolts that were tightened for your m exhaust or when they swapped to oem xpipe, was the weather much warmer? When it cools some of the bolts get loose since it contracts the metal. Get under and tighten the bolts.
The other suggestions make no sense as if it were the dampers or heat shield or any other rattling piece, it would get worse as it warms up and the piping expands, which would put it in even more contact with those pieces it may be hitting in that scenario. Go under and tighten all your bolts from the xpipe to the muffler and you will have found your problem go away |
