well im 21 right now, and when i purchased my first brand new M3, i was 20 which was 4 monthes ago, as of now i have about $15K worht of mods on my car all purchased with my own money. I bought this car with my own earned money because right now i own a womans wholesale store in downtown LA, which im actually trying to expand if my sales rise within couple monthes or atleast stay constant. i live at home with my mom and sister because my sister is only 11 so i take care of her when my mom is not home, since she cant be left at home alone, and my mom trusts me more then anyone to take care of her. and trust me, i can pay rent on my own but i chose to help my mom out instead since she runs a manufactoring company which requires her to work overtime. if any one do not believe what i just said, come by my work and well talk. is this humble enough to the elders on this forum?? sorry if it seems like im coming out rude, thats not my intentions at all, i just wanna prove to the elders on here that not all young kids in here gets shit bought for them and actually work for their money and car!

I'm also curious.

I'm actually more curious about anyone <25 that has an M3 that says:
A) They paid (paying) for it all themselves
B) They pay for all gas and insurance themselves
C) They don't live at home with mommy & daddy

Exactly how does that happen?

I'm 24 bought my own 09 e90 with my own hard earned money. I sacrificed going out many nights with friends just to one day own my dream. There is nothing that pisses me off more than ignorant motherfuckers thinking that mommy and daddy bought my shit. In any case haters gonna hate!

Who cares, drive your car and STFU. There are 16 year olds who get Ferrari's and Lamborghini's for their 16th birthdays. The majority of us will never have cars like that no matter how hard we work or how humble we are...

Get over it and enjoy your life to the fullest...

I got mine when I was 25 by deploying once when I was 22 (for 15 months) and again when I was 24 (for 11 months) and saving every penny of the tax-free money I earned. Not saying that is a very common situation, it's just my personal experience. Oh, and I was stationed in Germany at the time so it was a bit easier/cheaper.

Bottom line is that there is always some sort of situation that could be true, and wasting time wondering or getting jealous/angry over it like some people do is just silly. A younger person driving the same car as me doesn't change my life or how I enjoy my car in the slightest, so I don't really care

I was making around 30k in my early 20's. By my mid 20's around 50k. With rent and bills, there's no way I could have afforded an M3 (new or used). I too am curious how some of the younger guys afford these cars unless their income is much higher than mine was at the time (which is awesome, btw. Not knocking young success at all.) or are they living with parents, sharing rent costs, etc. Maybe cost of living is just A LOT cheaper in other states.

They don't. Mommy and Daddy buy it for them. The problem isn't the kids, it is their parents. What car enthusiast teenager wouldn't want an M3?

The parents need to teach their kids the value of money, and the satisfaction that comes with having earned something for yourself. No matter how much money you have, these types of lessons will be invaluable in life. The purpose of parenting is to prepare your children to deal with adult life, not to hand them material excess on a silver platter.

Even if you are wealthy, and your kid is a car enthusiast, how about something along the lines of a Civic Si? Something that shows a little discipline that is necessary for this age.

There was a post a while back from a college kid who was given an M3 by his parents. He claimed that he "worked hard in school and got good grades". I told him to go into a BMW dealership and ask for an M3 because he got good grades. Never heard a peep out of him after that.

BTW OP, here's the answer to your question:

I'm 22. Bought my e92 new when I was 18. Originally saved up for an E30 when I was 6 or 7 years old (yes, 11-12 years of saving). Put down 60% cost of car and financed the rest (cosigned with my dad). Paid for gas, insurance, and maintenance by myself (worked 2 part time jobs and multiple odd jobs/internships during college, took my girlfriend (now wife) on cheap dates and gave her cheap gifts, didn't have any friends or party, and was a high class prostitute for females).

Hate away, you heartless assholes.

I love this forum, it's a prime example of the growing trend of shifting stereotypes and prejudice behavior. First there was sexism when the world wasn't wide enough, then there was racism since people found out there was a difference in skin color and physical features, somewhere in all this was religious prosecution, and now people are coming around to topics of wealthism and ageism.

And just as in the past, the ones who hold the prejudice and stereotypes try to justify their positions and behaviors and try to give themselves power and authority as a higher form of being.

Well I guess if you're breaking child labor laws and earning income at 6 who can argue. When I was 6 I had no idea I wanted an M3.

I got my '08 at 25 last year. I pay rent ($1200 a month). I also pay insurance and gas (~$450 per month). I have student loans also. It's a $40K car and I put $20K down. $400 car payments are easy.

I had a BS in Physics by 21 and an MS in mechanical engineering by 23. Now I have a good engineering job.
