2001 M3 6spd Convertible (TX)

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
USD 18,800.00

Or Best Offer

Item Interest
Model: E46 M3
Body Style: Convertible
Transmission: 6-speed Manual (not SMG)
Year: 2001
Mileage: ~47,500 miles
Price: $18,800
Exterior Color: Steel Gray
Interior: Black Napa Leather

The car is in great condition. The seats are generally a good way to tell how the previous owners treated the car (especially since they are real napa leather), and they look great. There is a scratch on the rear bumper though. It was there when I bought the car. I use Ragg Topp convertible top cleaner and sealer only to maintain the top.

The car is untouched by any modifications. It came fully loaded (I think) off of the line. It has rear parking sensors, navigation, and 19" premium staggered rims.

Since acquiring the car around 3,000 miles ago, I have replaced one ignition coil. I have also bought an Inspection II package. This service is supposed to be completed somewhere near 60,000 miles, but I wanted to do it just as a precaution. I haven't done it yet, but keep in mind that this is an expensive service. Classic BMW quoted me $1,500 for it. I would never go to a dealership to get anything done though; they don't even know the correct fluids to be using in some cases. They also try to cut corners whenever possible (they expect owners not to notice; most don't).

EDIT: I just completed the entire Inspection II except for the valve adjustment. I did everything except the oil and filter change myself, so I know it was done right. I also have one bottle of transmission fluid and an untouched oil and filter change kit left over.

All the mechanicals are in sound condition. I have not heard the dreaded "vanos rattle" yet. Since it's a 6-speed, you won't have any SMG headaches.

I recognize that the price may be higher than some other M3's, but keep in mind that those other ones are probably treated like junk. I only use BMW OEM fluids, and don't track the car. The clutch has never been dumped. Also remember that I am including either the Inspection II package (minus valve adjustment kit), or a car with an Inspection II already done. It also has four brand new Hankook's on it (as of 8/10/12).

Thank you for your interest, and have a great day!

Nice clean car for sure. Just curious, where did you get $25,500 from?

Excuse my ignorance but what exactly is the "Inspection II package"? Is it just someone looking the car over to see if anything needs to be done but not actually doing anything?

It's what my friend from a dealership told me to put it up as. Do you think that it's too high?

No the package is something I bought that includes everything I need except the valve shim kit. I'll put up some pictures of it soon. What I meant by it was that if I don't do it soon myself, then I can include all of the fluids, filters, spark plugs, and anything else I can't think of right now, to get it done (besides the valve kit).

I'm not one of those guys to tell a seller if their price is too high or too low. You can do whatever price you like, my friend. You have a gorgeous car and I hope you sell the car for that price. I'm not sure what the market is out there in TX right now, but the convertible season here in NJ is winding down. Should you had been local to me and around December, I would be talking a business with you but timing isn't right for me at the moment. GLWS!

Thanks for the input! The weather has been over 100 every day this week, but in the evenings and nights it gets down to the low 90s, which to me is pretty comfortable top down weather.

When you get all of your ducks in row, you'll definitely enjoy driving top down!

Ughh must be nice out there in the fall and winter. Once autumn rolls in, let alone winter, it get's pretty chilly quick here in NJ.

Bump for the OP

I'm coming back from NY right now, and man do I have a newfound respect for all of you sports car drivers up north. The roads and driving conditions are horrendous!

Thanks for the bump!

Gorgeous car, but your price is off by $8-10K if you truly want to sell it.

So you think my car is worth 14-16K? You're running in to super high mileage and pretty damn nice E36 M3 territory there. I don't want this thread to become uncivilized, so I'll suffice it to say that I am not going to sell my car for that low.

You are correct in saying that I don't truly want to sell it though
