I believe so. That's what I went with on Bavauto as well. Mann oil filter + Liqui Moly Race Tech 10W60. About to send sample in after 6500 miles to Blackstone lab.

The Mann aftermarket filter is slightly different than the OEM oil filter. The Mann one slides on more tightly than the OEM filter. Mann does make the OEM filter but the two are not exactly the same. Just FYI. I haven't had any issues with the Mann filter.

anyone get any traction on this for non-OEM filters? Given that we have to replace 4 of them, the OEM prices out to about $100. Mann filters also prices out to about $94 before shipping. Does anyone have a link to the any other non-OEM filters?

I think when I ordered it said "2 left" .. Someone else probably got the last set. You can find other vendors that sell the Mann cabin filter set on ebay if you look there. The price is not that much different.

Honestly some folks have gone 5 years without changing them. Not a big item or issue. I didn't change them in my old M3 and that was over 5 years. Non issue for some of us.

I'd change these on the schedule. I recently changed the cabin air filter on a car which has not been changed in 5 years... it looked pretty disgusting. And you are breathing this all as you are driving...

I am positive. I just received mine a few weeks ago. They come with really nice DIY instructions too.

They should not charge you, included with the maintenance plan.

Kinda OT but I always thought the location where the air comes into the cabin on BMW is a bad design. It sucks the air from under the engine hood where it gets super hot. So no matter what temp it is outside, the fan always blows hot air at you.

It might look that way at first glance, but it's not sucking in engine compartment air. That big rubber strip is separating the HVAC intake section from the engine compartment and the HVAC is intaking air from the along sides somewhere. Surely some heat from the engine gets through but the air is not coming from the engine compartment. Whenever I turn my AC off and just leave my blower on with the temp set lower than ambient, it blows air just slightly above ambient temp.

yep! i noticed that, in the winter time, on days that is a bit above freezing, I have my air on on "cold". It makes spring, fall, and cool summer nights unbearable and you have to run the AC more often
