Nissan just furthered f"ck"d over their GT-R customers.
Looks like Nissan wants you to cruise around slowly and show off to the 16 yo Import crowd instead of having fun in a fun car.

And just think they keep raising the price by $7-8k each model year too.
So they suck in more money from you but take away more of your ability to actually drive the car like it was supposedly designed to be driven....HARD. Where are the "tuners" and hackers for this car that allows you to "clear" the ECU (ie: Black Box) memory and so forth? Like the Bavarian Technic cable for the BMW does. Can't believe somebody hasn't come up with a way to do that for the GT-R yet. Would solve all the issues owners are having. Drive the car like you want and then before you take it in for service, plug in the computer software, clear all the "codes" that show you used the launch control or drove it on a track or whatever and then you are clear. Heck even Chevy allows (actually encourages) the use of the Launch Control on the 2010 Corvette ZO6. It's easier on the drivetrain to have the computer keep you from launching the car too hard. It's more of a safety feature than a hinderance. Hasn't someone sued Nissan yet. If you aren't suppose to use it, why does Nissan have it on the car? If you can't drive the car aggressively, why does Nissan promote it as one of the fastest production cars on the racetrack? |

The GT-R is a great car and a blast to drive, there is no denying that. However, this is just another issue why I would never want to own this car. I'd rather have a GT3, something that is quick and very fun at the track, b/c that is how its intended to be used. Boo Nissan!

WHAT THE FUCK?
DYNO/TRACK/COMPETITIVE DRIVING/NOT ON TIME TO SERVICE/AIR STRIP DRIVING/VDC OFF = VOIDED WARRANTY?!?!?!?!!?!??!?!?! What is the point of this car anymore? Are they trying to turn a GTR into a poser car(all for looks)? Honestly this is ridiculous The old launch control was a "get out of mud and snow mode", what the fuck1?!?!?!?!?!?!??!

You don't clear ALL the logs and stuff, just the "notes" that says you used launch control, or the note that shows you drove over 120 mph, etc. With the BT software and cable (at least on the 335i) you can clear any codes you want, even a limp mode, or if you run too aggressive of a map and get knocking, etc. You can leave all the "regular" codes (like a random misfire) but can clear only the ones you want that would void your warranty. Nice tool to have for $300 for the BMW, can't believe there isn't one for the GT-R. Would change many things for GT-R owners, that's for sure. |

So if even putting a GT-R on a dyno voids your warranty, would it be fair to assume that attempting to replicate Nissan's incredible claimed ring times using a "stock" GT-R would also voids one's warranty?

Nissan may as well sell the damn thing encased in a solid glass cube. It seems any attempt to reproduce the manufacturer's fantastic claims give Nissan dealers a lot of leeway to void a customer's warranty. Doesn't say much about Nissan's faith in the GT-R's durability.
