2010 M3 Deal?

Hey guys - I have been talking to a dealer about a 2010 M3 that has premium, cold weather, and 19in wheels. They were originially asking 57k, but have since lowered the price to 51k. I'm either going to get this or order a 2012. What are your thoughts on the car? Below are some pics I snapped with my iphone:

That's a deal! 2009s and even 2008s are going for that much.

Does it have nav?? If so, get it.

It doesn't have Nav, but it does have pretty much every other option. It's literally either this or wait and order a 2012.

They're trying to sell 2009s with similar miles for 55k (with Nav) here in the DC Metro Area.

Interesting info, thanks. This is a tough decision - grab the 2010 now or be patient and order a 2012....

If you can live with buying a lightly used car, you can save a ton of money over brand new.

I'm feeling like $45k is the magic number for the 2010. But I'm no Carnac.

I'm not sure I could get them to 45k, but I think I could definitely get them below 50k. The question then becomes - Save 20k and get a 2010 with premium pkg, sunroof, etc or order a 2012 with comp pkg and the CF roof. Maybe I should put up a poll, lol.

If you get 'em to $45k it's an absolute no brainer. BUY THE 2010. Even at $46k or so I would. At $49k or so the decision becomes a little more muddled and yours. Best of luck to a future M3 owner.

Well, I was able to get them down to $49,990 - they seem pretty desperate to move the car. I don't think they will go any lower though.

Under $50k for 2010 sounds like a fair deal to me. Just buy it.

I may just do that...my dealer informed me that they won't be getting a sep M3 allocation, so it makes my decision a bit easier.

I would definitely buy this car and good luck but what's wrong with your 335is? I just saw you had one.

Why not just order the 2012 and wait it out? You'll get all the packages you want that way too. Don't settle for 2nd best when buying an ///M, especially considering you have the 335is to tide you over until then.

I actually love the 335iS but I'm having buyers remorse about not going all the way and getting the M3, especially considering it wouldn't have cost me much more $.

The difference between the 2012 cars and 2010 can be considered trivial for the right price. If you can have them move on that price a bit, I'd definitely jump on the 2010 and keep some cash in your pocket!

If you are a frequent trader of cars it is probably best to purchase used and let someone else take the depreciation. If you plan on owning the car for 5 years or so it may make sense to buy new. I bought my 2010 M3 new (ordered) so I got it the way I wanted it, broke it in properly, and don't abuse it. I usually keep my cars for a long time. M3s are high performance and can be subject to abuse so be careful.

I agree with you and actually thought about doing this. Problem is, the way the 2012 lease numbers look, I'd be looking at paying over $100 more per month on a '12 vs. an '11. Ideally I would like to find an '11 with the specs I want, there is only one out there that I could find and it is in Arizona.

I typically keep my cars for about 3 years. In all honesty, I would probably keep the M until the warranty is about to expire and then trade her in.
