I run 275/295 tire setup on my M3 and couldn't be happier. It has exceeded my expectations compared to the previous squared setup as far as balance and speed go. The biggest disappointment in the setup is the tire choice, Michelin PS2. An upgraded setup would fare better with the custom KW Clubsport setup. Car runs -2.1* of camber on the front end and -1.9* camber on the rear. Toe neutral front, and 1/8th inch total toe in at the rear.
Another car we setup runs a 265/295 setup and it performs very well too with lots of front and rear grip, however the 275/295 setup is a bit more balanced on the front end. Rake should remain as close to factory as possible. Malek

I think tire size is a factor that has to be taken into account with many other things. Namely, it has to match the suspension setup. I don't think that more tire is ALWAYS better. I'm running 275s square for purely cost saving reasons. Let's face it, most of us who run square setups do it for the same reason. One attribute that makes this relatively heavy car so good around the corners is that the back end rotates VERY well in a controllable manner. If you stick 305s in the back it kind of kills that attribute and, I think, would change the character of the car.
I saw the E90 M3 ring taxi whoop up on everyone and everything at the 'ring on stock sized PS2s...just sayin'.
