Barry, you are the man! I'm curious to see your build. Keep this thread updated.
I have a similar car to yours. I ran it in DE's this year, and I plan on doing the same next year. I might start club racing it in two years or buy something cheaper. I bought my 2002 E46 with the carbon, the Motons, the AP BBK, and all the power upgrades already done. The only thing I did was have the cage put in it. You are going to absolutely love your car! It feels so much lighter and more rigid on the track than an unprepped E92 (I guess that's a captain obvious point). Are you painting the outside orange or the inside? I painted my interior orange and left the outside Carbon Black. A black interior would be way too hot. Here is a picture of my dirty car as it got back from having the interior sprayed (It's a plastic that's sprayed on to protect the paint from overspray).

As far as an update is concerned on the car - finally went to paint yesterday and the chassis is scheduled to be complete in 1.5 to 2 weeks. Doors, hood, trunk lid, etc will be done after that. This will allow for the reassembly process to begin. Also the motor is getting new bearings and the cam gear is getting wired into place - both are being done on a preventative basis. Motons are in and dyno'd. Still waiting on the CSL airbox (chad nelson version) and am getting the Epic software (alpha-n version) from BW. Plan is to go to the NASA event in mid Feb at VIR so a lot has to happen over the next six weeks! BC

Barry the formula would be awesome, or maybe just the color code used to get the paint store to mix it. Please don't forget about me, this is for my never ending E30M3 project.

Barry,
Let me know if you need some race cars parts for your build. I have a PTG built exhaust and a couple dry sump engines from a Grand Am car. This exhaust spent much time on the chassis dyno tuning to optimum performance. This particular exhaust system was designed and made by PTG. http://i442.photobucket.com/albums/q...6/SNC00040.jpg These are both built by Lazano They are both fully blue printed long blocks This motor dyno'd at 400 HP with motec software and race exhaust http://i442.photobucket.com/albums/q...orsalepix4.jpg http://i442.photobucket.com/albums/q...orsalepix3.jpg Also have: Fluidyne Heat exchanger and A new custom made high performance radiator In a race environment with 70 degree out door temps the car is running at full tilt at about 170 degrees. They tape the grill on colder days to make sure the car doesn't run too cool. http://i442.photobucket.com/albums/q...6/radfront.jpg I also have 1 sets of ALCON Calipers with burnished rotors and new pads. These are BMW M3 Grand Am Cup Kit brakes which run about $3,800.00 The set has some cosmetic damage http://i442.photobucket.com/albums/q...drotersand.jpg Also have a ton of brake pads for PFC and Alcon calipers Last edited by jpjp; 01-28-2011 at 11:08 AM.. |

T2 is a great class for the M3. We love running our car in it. There is about 8 different M3's in our region alone that run T2. However you are pretty limited on mods (have to use turner springs, sway bars, brake ducts), suspension specs (only max of two degrees camber, can't even use camber plates), and weight (Min weight of 3500lbs after racing or qualifying) .

Latest update is the chassis is out of paint and the reassembly process is beginning! New rod bearings, oil pump and baffle, cam gear bolt fix should be done today. CSL airbox should be shipping in the next few days, CF roof is on its way. CF GTR hood is 5 weeks out. Everything else is ready to be installed. In the meantime a few cellphone pics:
