Some look close. Would like to see Full Leather.

Extended Leather $2439

19in Wheels $1497

Comfort Access $453

EDC $1540

Heated Seats $282

Nav Prof $1703

Logic 7 $333

M Dynamic Package $4707
-EDC
-M Drive
-Backreast Adj
-Nav Pro

Another interesting bit from that article about the engine. It states "The engine however offers significantly more power, as well as lower fuel consumption".
This states we should see better MPG's.
Excellent, you beat me to this. I definitely want to know how much "damage" I'll get in options configuring to my liking. However... as much as I think this simple ratio method will get you a good estimate of base price I don't think it will do a very good job on options price estimation. Case and point: Comfort Access. On the M5 it is $1k USD, on the 335i it is only $500 USD (go BMW NA, screw the M5 buyer!). I also don't think we will see any options or option packages close to $5k. There will probably be some sort of "Premium" package with a nice set of common options for $3k or so. Probably a better method would be to just look at 335i, E46 M3 and M5 options and prices and extrapolate from there.

According to the pricing in South Africa, those options which are not M-specific (e.g. Comfort Access, Bluetooth, Logic 7, etc) are priced exactly like in the 335i Coupe... I would expect BMW NA to go the same route... No?

does that mean that in s. africa, logic 7 was a cost option for the 335? in the US, Logic 7 came standard on the car.

another comment in the pdf that caught my eye:

"boot lid with integrated rear spoiler"

this is either a mistake, or a new development for the M3 as all the pictures we've seen thusfar did not feature an integrated rear spoiler, but an add on spoiler.

A little OT, but you have to keep in mind that CA on the 5 series offers 4 door access, while the 3 series only offers two (front doors only). That's partly why its more costly.

don't be so sure... the E46 ZHP package was $3700... and that's on a regular 3 series. and if i'm not mistaken, the ZCP package on the E46 M3 was just over $4000.

Yes, Logic 7 is a cost option on the 335i Coupe in South Africa... so the E92 M3 is following that trend .... I suppose BMW NA will make Logic 7 standard in the E92 M3 over there, since it is also standard in the 335i Coupe.

Here, the 335i Coupe comes standard with the Hi-Fi Loudspeaker system (code SA676) and the MP3-enabled 6-CD Changer... the same way as with the E92 M3.

i wouldn't be so sure about that either. for weight savings.... take the E46's, even in the US...H/K was standard in the 330's but optional on the M3's. just as the Logic7 is standard in the 335... it very well may not be standard in the M3.

Enjoying the qualities of the new BMW M3, the driver is able to configure several driving parameters indivdually according to his particular requirements, thus adjusting the car’s behaviour and performance to his personal preferences. One option, for example, is to completely deactivate the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) via the car’s set-up. Electronic Damper Control (EDC), in turn, which optimises both vertical vibration behaviour as well as the car’s dive and roll in bends and when applying the brakes and accelerating by adjusting damper forces, comes with three different settings – Normal, Comfort, and Sports – the driver is able to pre-select at the touch of a button.

Three control maps are also available for precise, on-demand management of the engine. These management functions operate not only on the position of the throttle butterflies in the intake manifold, but also on further factors and parameters significantly changing the behaviour and response of the engine.

The optionally available MDrive configuration enables the driver to pre-select the response of the Servotronic power steering. In the process, MDrive is able to follow two control maps varying steering forces between the Normal and Sports setting as a function of road speed." -- BMWAG press release 4/5/07

That would be great and I really hope it happens but I don't have a lot of confidence in it happening. The margins are just too good on crap (crap I want btw... ) such as $1k for CA.

Also, BTW, for all the folks wanting to make estimates of their customized price with their options I have made a spreadsheet that allows you to just check the options you want, it then calculates your price and even loan payments. Pretty handy. It does not have all the logic as to options that go together or ones that can not come together and may be missing a few other details such as destination charge etc. but it is a great start. Enjoy.

But the price $1K for CA on an M5 is the same as it is on a 528i, 535i or 550i. There's really nothing to suggest that M3 options will be more than they are on a non-M 3 series.

swamp.

your excel spreadsheet was a rude awakening haha. unless i'm making a mistake... looks like breaking the 70k mark is almost a given. mine came out to about 77k. (and that didn't include gas guzzler).

let's hope that when bmwna PACKAGES options for us, some kind of a savings is offered.

I know, not eaxctly pleasant with state tax and a few nice options. I do think a lot of the options in this list will be std. in NA. Keep in mind the spreadsheet has the built in SA M5 base price conversion factor for options as well. I think the estimates in the spreadsheet for the options are probably all a bit high with this factor. Like others have posted many options seem quite a bit overpriced compared to what we expect.

There has been a lot of banter back and forth about pricing and how much more than the 335i it will be at. Clearly out the door, loaded, in a state with high tax it will be easy to get into the 70s. Still the only fair, apples to apples comparison with the 335i (or any other vehicle) is base price to base price. Obviously it is up to each buyer to skimp or go all out on options. If you do the latter it will clearly cost you handsomely. If you do the former perhaps you can afford a car you can't or can't stomach loaded. It'll still be an M3!

Yes, CA has a higher sales tax than IL, 6.5%, so I replaced that. People need to remember to put their own in the sheet.

active steering?

Best regards, south
i doubt this is an SA exclusive. there would just be no rationale for it. but something is definitely awry.... there is no mention of Active Steering in the UK M3 catalogue.

scott26 or anyone else in the know, care to comment?
