do you have any shifting issues? or just display/ shifter light problem? paddles work?

If it's not showing the gear number there is something wrong.

It should show the gear number... but if it drives fine it must just be a faulty screen or something minor like that.

Are you positive? Do you have the latest 241E software update? I'm thinking maybe the software removed it or something?

Nope all M3s show which gear it's in
