Ordering soon! and getting rid of these...

The research has been a lot of fun but the wait might kill me.

I'm getting rid of these 2 and combining them into an E90 M3!!!!

The lotus is gone, anyone want a perfect E28???

It is but where are you going to put passengers? The Lotus is a good weekend/track car, not a daily driver. I'm assuming the OP wants a practical, yet comfy daily driver with the performance of a Lotus. Can't do much better for this than an M3.

Cheers.

A buddy of mine who drives a E92 M3 recently bought a 2010 Lotus Elise and it's a cute little car. Mid-engined (1.8L Toyota engine producing about 190 HP) car weighing in at around 1,985 lbs. The 2 seats are bunched together very closely (very much at the center point of the car). The steering is very quick, felt/drove like a go-kart.

My Elise was an amazing car, the best handling car I've ever owned by far. I made a ton of mods to make the car quicker and fixed all the weak points. It was a very harsh street car and any trip over 30 minutes was an adventure, kind of like riding a motorcycle with all the noise and vibration. Solid motor mounts will do that!
I couldn't even buckle my seatbelt at the same time as the passenger, that's how close the seats are.

More photos of the E28 below!!

The e28 is pretty clean. I'd hold on to it if you can manage it.

I sold my Elise SC just before Christmas and got my E92 comp pack DCT a few weeks ago. M3 is a lot more powerful but the Elise has sensational handling (but watch for lift off oversteer) with pin sharp steering (but no power assistance so very heavy at low speeds) beautiful throttle and brake balance (unlike M3 heeling and toeing is a delight).

Lotus very economical (at least compared to M3) but few creature comforts and a pain (literally for my aging bones) to climb in and out off.

Elise has great gearchange puts BMW manuals to shame.

Lotus really only an every day car for the very determined.

I had forgotten how fast the M3 was - and how much petrol it uses but no regrets getting a bit long in the tooth for the Lotus.

Heh, same on M3's, or almost any car if you lift off in mid-turn.

Indeed

Don't know about that. Elise that I drove, belonging to a friend, had its accelerator pedal way (unusually) deep/low compared to the brake pedal, forcing the driver to really push down deeply on the heel/ankle to blip the throttle (a platform shoe might've worked, really). The car was a 2010 model w/ 8 miles on it, so I don't think it was modded/adjusted that way by anybody.

Yeah, you almost have to do gymnastics to get in & out.

Yeah, and it didn't exhibit that annoying grinding/stubborn 2nd gear problem of M3's.

I ordered what i think is the first Monte Carlo E90 anywhere, hope it stays that way.
Specs:
Anthracite & Black Cloth/Leather
Carbon Leather Trim
DCT
Competition Package
Fold-Down Rear Seats
Satellite Radio
iPod/USB

So far i've ordered the following:
painted reflectors
cool carbon pads
Stoptech SS lines
ATE super gold fluid
pedals from EAS
Black chrome grills and side markers

Exhaust --most likely an Eisenmann Race Black series or a Gintani, still watching videos on youtube. I could do that for days.

Wheels -- I like the ZCP wheels but i want some 18s for track work. Still deciding on what kind but i'm leaning towards the upcoming ADVAN TC-III or some WORK Sr1's in bronze or satin black....

We'll see how my cheap brake package works at Road Atlanta, CMP and Barber this year before I move to a BBK.

A supercharger will most likely come too but that's down the road a bit.

Good choice. I sent these two down the road to get my first e90. As you will find out, the e90 is much more capable than the two cars it replaces, but won't have nearly the character of either.

I couldn't agree more. The lotus got more stares and than any car I've ever owned. The E28 just oozes character....
But in the end I'll wind up with a superb all around performer and will make my soon to be fiancee happy at the same time. Plus i have a few other cars I'm working on along with a huge collection I'll inherit one day. I need to start building a warehouse now!

Ohhhhhhh....would you settle for "2nd" in North America (excepting the 2010 Edition models??). LOL, you'll be one of the first in the U.S. - I think there's going to be 2 of you - to have it. Great choice...but I'm partial, black rims and all!!
