Just installed yesterday. So far, I am not sure if I like it. The car feels fine on smooth roads, but on bumpy roads, in normal mode, way too much vibration, almost upsetting the chasis. Will it get better after alignment?

Both alignment, and time to let the springs settle will yield a much smoother ride I am sure. It's the nature of the spring at first under load.

Eibach FTW! ive gone for a ride in both and h and r and eibach car. The eibach sits slightly higher in the front but the ride is sooooo much better. I personally want a smoother ride so im going to get eibach's.

Is your assessment of the ride quality based on personal experience with riding in both a H&R equipped M3 and an Eibach equipped M3 or is it based on the posts on the forum?

Have some experiece on my H&R's now, and it isn't a big deal. The car is stiffer, but it isn't to the point it bothers me. It still is comfortable, I only notice a difference over bumps. It is still similar to stock.

After a couple days and some miles i noticed that the car feels less stiff now. I drive in normal edc and it feels good. I will try calling h&r and ask how much stiffer their springs are.

I have actually driven in both.... i like the look of the h and r's better but the eibach's def. felt better. The h and r's had a 3000 miles on them so maybe the shocks were slighly more worn but the eibach's felt softer personally. I think the ride quality with the eibach's retained about 95% of the stock ride quality. The h and r's about 70-75%.

Hows the rebound with the H&R's installed? You guys feel excessive bounce that remind you of a cheap ride?

The spring rate means nothing if the car is riding on the bump rubbers all the time.

So guys, would you say the overall handling is improved with h&r sport springs or not?

I had H&R's on my E90 no sunroof 18's lowered nicely gave, me the bulldog stance I like, ride was stiff and even IMO at speed but I did notice I was driving a lowered car with springs only, when I drove over uneven surfaces at slower speed, now I ride on Eibach pro springs on a E93 I choose them because they dont lower as much as the H&R's and I was planning to use 19's,the ride is almost OEM but still at lower speeds I know I am driving a lowered car with springs only...if I had the cash I would go step further than just springs.
both sets gave me the look I was going for, still I am just a street driver so most of my mods are for my viewing pleasure the performance is already there.

As much as I want to go full suspension like I did on my Z4M, keeping the warranty weighs in more.

It won't void your warranty, that's bs. If you have an edc issue then yes, but springs will likely void warranty on an edc claim as well.

So my solution is going H&R full coilovers next year and since I don't use the EDC anyway the light can stay on for all I care. lol Black tape covers up that shit just like the E46 M3 and E86 M. I also must clear up a bunch of spring information on here. I read so many threads about how bad the H&R sport springs are and no travel, yada yada yada....now keep in mind I am coming from 20 years of experience with over 20 coil over kits and spring kits from the NSX, Cayman, 350z, S2000, Z4MC, etc and can tell you with 100 percent certainty that just the springs alone is totally ok for day to day driving and commuting with an occasional track day. Clearance is fine, car ride is smooth, no bottoming out. Honestly I have had so many other spring kits and coil over kits that were 10Xs worse. Anyway to clear up the myth.. these springs are totally fine by themselves. Keep in mind your shock life with decrease as always, but that is reality.

Each time I went into the dealership for the "scheduled service", they never gave me heat about the suspension BUT I am pretty sure that if you want warranty work on the suspension, you shouldn't give them any ammunition to deny the warranty work.
As for the suspension, I went from H&R to Eibach and back to stock. The H&R had a great drop which gave a wonderful visual aspect to the car. They also gave a good bite on the initial turn in and felt pretty flat through the corner. The draw back was that on daily drives, I bottomed out the suspension from time to time, which is a pretty good jolt despite fiddling with the EDC settings. For this reason, I then went to Eibach. The Eibachs did not have the drop that the H&Rs nor did they have the initial turn in feel but they still do look good AND I never bottomed out. I would have kept these on but the Eibachs gave a VERY unsettling feel on midcorner bumps at high speeds, especially on track days. When I went back to stock, it did not have the steering feel of having the springs but it was the best of the three, especially at the track. In hindsight, if I wanted the looks and benefits of a lowered car, I should have gotten coilovers but since it was a leased car, I did not want to spend too much money on it. I just wanted to have some fun. Hope this helps. |
