Talking ******** Famoso Raceway Private Track Rental - 11/21/2009 ********

Ladies and gentlemen,

It is this time of year again.... I have reserved Famoso Raceway 1/4 mile drag strip on November 21st for our exclusive use. We will have both lanes available to us as well as full use of the entire facility including the barbecue grills

Last time the event was limited to 35 cars (not including the 3 different waiting lists); this time, we will open the event up to maybe 50 depending on demand. Spots will be given on a first-sign-up-first-serve-basis, so please don't add your name unless you know for sure that you will be attending, as I would like to try and get an accurate count this time.

The payment per car is undetermined at this point in time and will likely depend on how many cars will want to attend. To be safe, however, I would estimate between $200 to $250 per car for now. Yes, I know.... Famoso (unfortunately) is one of the expensive tracks. Exact payment will be determined on November 2nd and payment should be submitted no later than November 8th as I have to meet with the owner on November 9th to give him payment and finalize a few things.

Now for the good news.....

Instead of trying to race very early in the morning (to get optimum conditions), we will start later in the day and stop 1 to 2 hour AFTER sunset depending on conditions. At Famoso, right after sunset, temps drop very fast and so does DA..... hopefully with very low temps and really good DA, we'll get an awesome day of racing

Track Address:
==========

Auto Club Famoso Raceway

sticky clocked 12.1 @ 115 mph last time out (this just from memory by the way). His car was getting faster and faster that day, but he left early. Had he stayed 2 more hours, I think he would've hit 12 flat if not high 11s

Either way, he'll likely be in the 11s with just tune and bolt-ons. The best part about watching his car down the 1/4 mile is the sound of the DCT shifting. It is the FASTEST shifts I've witnessed to date

We had a 10 second M3 that was going to attend, but canceled in the last minute. I will try to get him to join us this time around. Either way, the event will be a lot of fun

How many runs does $250 buy you? Seems pretty steep

Since its a Private day I reckon you can get a bunch of runs in. About as much as you'd want in one day anyway.

As many as you want

In a private event, there is almost no waiting time at the lines.... so you can make as many runs as your car will handle. This is a good opportunity to practice your launch, your shifting, try different tire setups, suspension, etc.... It is a great way to learn and even "master" your car's abilities (in a straight line). I made 33 to 35 runs in my car last time out In comparison, when I attend Famoso on an open night test n tune, I pay $40 but I wait 7 hours for 3 runs (and that's assuming no body breaks down, which almost always happens on open nights).

You are correct

Please also note that the list will be closed soon. After that happens, we will not accept any more payments or sign-ups, but I will start a waiting list in case of last minute cancelations.

Wow, for $250 that actually is a good price if you want to do a lot of tuning or have grudge races w/ your friends.

Is it open to spectators? I don't think I'd want to make enough passes to justify the cost, but getting some footage of the cars on the track would be nice. Is Craig Lieberman going to be there again? I see his car in the photos from the last event.

You are exactly right. Last time out there, Terry Burger was actually live tuning his car. He would make a pass, then adjust the tune, then make another pass, then adjust the tune, etc.... He kept going faster and faster and faster Also, Powrechip and Evosport were there as well. There is nothing like live tuning the car on the track. You get to collect data from the real world as opposed to a dyno room where you can not simulate 120 mph winds or adjust for road conditions.

Craig has not yet confirmed his schedule. But I will definitely update the list when he does.... it was great having him there last time. Everyone had a blast, and almost everyone broke their own personal best in their cars. I went from 12.5 to 12.2 just by trying different launch techniques and perfecting my shifting

Spectators are welcomed, but they will also be limited in number. We will setup a sign-up sheet for them like we did last time. Track officials do not want more than 50 spectators at $10 per spectator. They do not want this event to be open to the public and they do not want huge amounts of people showing up since they only allocated a certain amount of employees for the event. Again, this is a private event not public.

I will let you know once we setup the spectator sign-up sheet. Hope to see you there....

******Payment Information Update******

okay guys, it looks like the number of participants is leveling off. The payment will be $200 + $6 (PayPal fees) for a total of $206 per car

I just finished setting up the track payment account again. It's the same one as the one we used for our last event. Please send payment via PayPal to:

jsunner@hotmail.com

Please don't forget to include the following information:

1) Username (and which forum you belong to if not this one).
2) Car Make/Model/Mods you're going to use at the track.
3) Contact information in case of last minute updates (only if I don't have it already).

I will be meeting with the owner on November 16th. So, payment (and a list of participants) must be submitted before November 15th not before November 9th as previously stated in the first post. Sorry, the first post was written when the racing date was set to November 14th.

Thanks and looking forward to seeing everybody there :y

Updated List.....

Sign-up while you can guys..... the list will close soon and then a waiting list will start. This is a private event and you'll be able to get a LOT of runs in. This is a very good opportunity to practice your launches, shifts, and of course a chance to gauge your car's overall performance stock or before/after mods.
