i'm surprised to see the E93 figures are higher than E90.

Thank god, hate those single purpose rare engines.....I want those one engine fits all powerplants

Thanks South, I did miscaclulate based on todays date not a 9/2010 date. If the second is also true then that would put total production much closer to 85-90k. Either way the total average to date at the time the article was published was about 18k cars/yr. 6 years of production (at the same sales rate) would indeed put the car over 100k cars.

Almost need to change my thread title now...

Thanks guys.

There are like 25 different 911 variants. Do you mean the whole 911 line or just a specific one?

I'm not interested in a shared motor. Wasnt that a big part of the premium of the M cars?

What's the price difference between a tuned 335 and an M3, if they both have the same motor? Probably minimal to most buyers.

A total number would be a good starting point and then a breakdown per variant. I'm most concerned with base Carrera's and Carrera S'.

Well, cross that new M3 out from your future if you have not done so already because that's what we are going to get.

How many E6x M5/M6 were sold? Wasn't it like 65k total? I can't imagine the M3 will sell less than that... if it does you can't really blame the economy when the more expensive model seems to have done just fine.

If they only produced 6700 E90's then a disproportional amount are represented on this forum. Seems like half the people here have E90's.

I buy it. Most of the E9x M3's I see in the wild are coupes and verts.

Actually, I can't understand the why. It's not as though they sold 2. BMW just learned with the 5 series wagon that wagon buyers really really do want a wagon, not an ugly hatchback (i.e. the GT), and when they can't get one from BMW, they go to MB for a wagon. I don't care that much, and guess I'd get a coupe if I had to, but I'm sure there are some buyers that for family reasons need a sedan, and once again, end up going to MB or Audi for one. I can't imagine it really costs them that much to have both, but maybe I'm wrong.

Only BMW can answer the question of profitability, unfortunately.

But I thought the BMW insider (SCOTT26) or some source indicated that an F30 M3 sedan was unlikely.

Hopefully BMW looks a bit more closely at m3post, and sees our enthusiasm for another sedan.

Hmm... E90 owners more likely to be enthusiasts, perhaps? If someone's buying an M3 just for appearances/status, they probably wouldn't choose the sedan.

I know for me, personally, there were very few options that were:

4 doors + RWD + manual transmission + 300+ horsepower
