Question rough idle then stalled

I was in the Tim Hortons drive thru this morning when out of nowhere the idle went up and down 3 times then stalled. The car had been running for about 4 minutes from a cold start to this point. I was able to refire and things seemed to be ok again.

I would chalk this up to stuff happens but this is the 4th time this has happened to me. The other 3 times I was able to keep the car from stalling but not this time.

Has anyone experienced this? Is it time to replace the Idle Control Valve (ICV)?

My car has 30,000 km and if it matter it's DCT. No fault code has been thrown.

I had this happen to me the past few weeks as well. Once the car stalled and a few times the idle would jump up and down and almost stalled. This is on a DCT. I'm going to book a service for the car soon to see what's going on.

i think it's Idle air control valve. But the DCT does make it more complex to diagose as well. So get her checked out.

Good thing it's not urgent (I hope) since the dealer can't see my car until April 22

I've had this happen three times in a year of ownership, though it hasn't happened in about six months. Do the experts still think it's likely to be the ICV? I guess it can't hurt to take it in.

i would take it in ASAP.... for my last car I waited, and that was the worst decision I've ever made. B/c once the idle air control valve gives out, the car will not hold an idle at all, it'll pretty much be impossible to drive the car b/c everytime the car stops, the car will stall. I was barely able to get my car out of my garage and into a shop to temporarily clean the throttle and readjust the idle controller. The long term solution is to just swap out the controller itself.

I'm just pissed that BMW's valves are giving out with less than 70k on the clock...

b/c you have a 6MT, your problem is likely the control valve, take it in ASAP, b/c once it gives out, your car will be virtually impossible to drive, b/c everytime you come to a stop, the car will stall...
