AW E92. Matte or Gloss Black Grills & Gills

I need your help guys. I'm stuck b/w the gloss black or matte black front grills and side gills. I will be picking up my Alpine White E92 June 18 by ED. I already ordered 20in Diamond Black LM-R's. I will be ordering Akra Exhaust, Vorsteiner front lip and Type II rear diffuser, and painted AW reflector covers. I'm in b/w now ordering gloss black or matte black grills and gills. Opinions and PICTURES please. I want to see what a AW E92 looks like with each to make my decision. Thanks guys.

Thanks for the quick response brother. I was actually leaning towards the CF ones but then someone brought to my attention that it might be too much CF. He mentioned the Gloss Black ones but I'm also leaning towards the Matte Black. I just want to make sure I make the right decision. I might just end up buying both since they really aren't that pricey. But I think I'm leaning towards Matte Black as well.

Anyone has pictures? I've searched on it and found a few but nothing convincing yet.

I would go for gloss black. I have matte front grills and i think they look a bit cheap up close. I will switch to Gloss Black or the BMW editions black chrome ones.

I would do gloss black on an M3 to match the window trim. Unless you are going to do the matte black theme throughout, this is the best option to keep it all uniform.

DO GLOSS BLACK ....

i started off with matte black and after a while gloss should have been my first choice in the first place. the car looks totally different on gloss.

like what Edison posted. its just flawless.

I had matte black kidney grills for a while and agree that up close they look kind of cheap. I decided to dish out the cash for the Edition black chrome side markers and kidney grills and I love them. They look nice and classy and match the window trim perfectly.

Me 2!

I’m in this debacle as well on what to get for my e92 but I’m deciding to go between the BMW edition or gloss black. I already know I don’t want the matte version. just because of the window trim. Does anyone have a picture of the BMW edition on a car or up closer than IND’s website?

Also what do you all think about tinting the side marker lenses?

Time out. I heard that the IND gloss black gills and grills match the window trim perfectly where as the oem editions don't.

I have Matte Black front grill's with carbon side grill's right now. I definitely like the carbon side grill's because they match the roof and my diffuser and (soon to have) front lip and Vorstiener Trunk with carbon lip exposed. The matte black looks pretty mean from the direct front but doesn't really match anything other than the stock hood vents and radiator cover in the bumper so I ordered some glass black from IND the other day. They paint match them to the window trim so I'm thinkin it'll look pretty sweet! I'll try and take some before and after pics when i put them on

my vote

go with editions. I just switched from matte black front grilles to the edition grilles and am really liking the edition ones much better. I also installed the edition side gills. Here are some pics

If you're doing a CF theme, with the front lip and rear diffuser and your CF roof, I'd go with CF. But otherwise, gloss (I don't see a different between the gloss black and the BMW edition black chrome grills).

Gloss, matches the shadowline trim. I have matte on my 335i and gloss on my M3.

Hello everyone,

Liking the grill replacement photos. Looking way better than the OEM chrome.

I have a question for those who have made the switch to the matte black. Do the grill slats separate from the trim ring section? I currently have a 2005 545i and I made the switch to black grills, but I then had the trim ring section painted to match the body color of the car. Since the trim ring separated from the grill slats it was very easy to have the paint shop do the work without any taping. Just wanted to ask if you guys found the M3 grill replacements to be the same as my 545i?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Here's a photo of my 545i after the trim rings were painted. The grill slats are still black.
