F30 iDrive controller in E90/92

Has anyone tried to install the new iDrive controller from the new F30 3 series in an E90/92? It looks very neat - size-wise - and the black complements the rest of the car especially if the interior is black.

I have a loaner for the next two days and have been extremely impressed with the compactness of the new unit.

I wish we can install it in the E90. Hope someone can chip in with some ideas

Take da console apart and see if the connector are the same. If they are the same then it should be possible!

Have to consider how it would integrate into the stock panel too.

From what I see and know they are about the same as cic idrive controller so just need to buy the cic centerconsole!

i highly doubt it's THAT straight forward. Even the 08 to 09 idrive change requires a new console panel and coding (for some cars).

Would somebody mind posting a picture of the new controller? I was able to find some images via BMW and Google, however, it looks the same as previous CIC controllers!

Dude, that Idrive knob is for cars without navigation!

The point is that the new controller is neat and nice and not about the features of the controller. Read the first thread properly before jumping

The CIC controller is neat and nice and actually works with your car. They're using the same controller on the CIC E9Xs as they are the F30s. The only difference may be an update to the scroll wheel part of the controller. Not sure why you'd want to make navigating the CCC idrive more difficult, but hey, it's your money.

It might actually work... Should have four pins, Power, Ground, Can Hi, and Can Low

It's just sending can signals over the canbus, so I wouldn't be surprised if it plugged right in and worked.

What's the functionality of the buttons on the left and right hand side of the controller wheel?

I just want to point out that this controller only clicks left and right, no up or down selection. This will make navigating the CCC/CIC extremely difficult.
