I went with them because they offer contingency to 3rd place with NASA, but they are not a competitive TT tire and not any faster than NT01 and I didn't find that they lasted as long either.

I don't go to THAT many events anymore. Partly because the local CCA chapters have cut down their operations down to 1 event per year rather than 2, partly because I've been taking my street car or swapping in for street tires for events that require more than 3.5 hours of driving. Those Maxxis tires I put on 2 years ago have only seen 5 days of track in the last 2 years.

However, the blocks gets BIGGER on the NT-01 as the tread continue to be worn away, so NT-01s seems to "come alive" as tread squirm decreases, while the same can not be said of the RC-1 because the tread starts out much bigger with little additional surface to be added as it wears until you get fully to the wear bar. Unfortunately the data available are from a resource rich club racing team, therefore there are no data that shows the tire's performance as they age and wear, but I'll bet as the RC-1 continue to wear the 2 second per lap gap between the RC-1 and NT-01 will start to decrease...Hence the RC-1 seems to "fall off" while the NT-01 seems to come alive using a subjective means of measuring.

so tried the tires out yesterday in 102F weather and the tires really stick!
stick so much compared to rs3 my driving style did not match. im used to tipping in letting the car slide to rotate and then countering and throttling to straighten out (thats prob why im slow lol). tried the same technique and i was understeering due to the grip. when it did rotate it was a lot easier to catch as it was more connected to the road surface. last session i dialed out some compression and the car turned in a lot better. unfortunately it was blazing hot by then, i was brain dead due to the heat (i sweat doinf nothing in mid 70s lol), and was literally driving cone to cone. my eye sight was glued to the cone because I was focusing on seeing if the car was turning in better and realized wtf am i doing? i was trying to hit cones that were thrown off and incorrectly placed as well lol. excuses, i know.

i love how the car would not start to hang the tail out so much though and would just stick at the point where it usually lets go.
was able to do some 105mph drifts on riverside at buttonwillow though since i thought sticky tires? go faster!

I'd say those tires are cold cycled out.

That's alright, I've got 2 sets of 265/45/18 equivalent (I think it's 260/18s) Achilles slicks in the garage, fresh with a couple of heat cycles on them.
I might retire the Maxxis RC-1s to street duties and run the slicks for "fun."

8 days on my NT01s and a crapton of life still, although 1M is lighter than M3 so maybe apples/oranges. DTD on eBay currently has 275/35/18 NT01s for $804 shipped. I don't need any yet but basically think I need to hoard now at that price.

The NT01 is an asymmetrical tire in tread only. The compound is the same unlike a Michelin Pilot Super Sport.
I've flipped a dozen sets...never had an issue.
