5 days in production is the norm.

I did Euro Delivery and it took 8 weeks to reach the West Coast from drop off at Loginout at Munich Airport.

How long does it usually take for a factory order car to get here to our coast?

I placed the order in April; I did ask/tell them I want to have it "early July". So far the dealer has told me it's on time.

I just pinged today and was told it's "50% produced"... guess they slated me to get a June production car which makes sense based on my asking for "early July" delivery.

Anyone knows how many days to produce a M3? Then how many days of transit all the way from Germany to the West coast here?

Thanks!!
Congrats on the order!

Factory orders take about 3-4 weeks after completion of production for the car to reach the left coast. Depends on how long your car waits at the port to get on a ship; possible delays getting on a train in Halifax; and any rail delays.

Thanks Chowster. Dang, I hope the sales gal meant it's 50% of the way here!! Coz even if it's done being produced/built today, 3-4 weeks won't mean "early July" for me to get the car

I think bruza was also replying to me too but quoted someone else lol. Thanks for the info. Sounds like the ED export/import process is extra long, probably due to the car being processed individually and not in a typical shipment batch...

Anyone else has more info on this build time and ship time stuff? Can dealerships actually track per the order?

I got my VIN from dealer last night, along with stock #. I suppose the stock # is just a # useful in the particular dealership, not like the production #, right?

I called the BMW Canada 1-800# last night, there's no automated system like BMW USA so will have to wait until Monday to try calling again and see if the "talk to an operator" is any use.

Some google search also led me to some posts (elsewhere) saying that I can use the last 7-digit of VIN to search on this shipping site to find which ship the car is on. No luck... I even tried using wildcard (%) as their help page shows in various field.
http://www.2wglobal.com/www/WEP/index.jsp

I am hoping my car is actually already off the boat in Canada on its way to the West coast on rail...

. Yup. Misquote there.

ED is a long wait but well worth it if you got the time.

BMW Canada was terrible for helping me track my car, mine took 9 weeks from drop off to Victoria, and it sat out in Halifax during a hurricane (so when it arrived it looked terrible).

Several weeks after returning from my ED I called up BMW Canada to help me find out where my car is, the BMW rep says, "Let me see... um I think it has left the factory..". No $hit, I told him I had already been to Germany recieved the vehicle and dropped if off, and been home for 4 weeks, so I ask is there anything else you can do to help me, American dealers are able to do this stuff all the time. Well sir this isn't America was the response I got.

Point is you have to be patient. Maybe get your SA to do the dirty tracking work for you.

I believe bnombe is waiting for a fresh factory order, not an ED return. 8-10 weeks seems to be the norm for getting an ED return though... sounds painful.

Any update on your car bnombe? Your CA should be able to provide the same status code as BMW Canada.

Yup it's not ED for me.

And yeah, I talked to a live person at the BMW Canada 1-800# today. Gave the rep the VIN (last 7 digit is all she needed), she confirms that it is being assembled.

I also figured out how to use the WW search page. It needs the full VIN as the cargo ID. So I put in the first 13 digits then add the '%' wildcard and can see a bunch of other BMWs shipment in the result page. I will keep checking on that to tell when my car gets on which boat and then can try to use other sites for tracking the ship actual movement lol... stalking my car as it crosses the ocean

Spotted an aggressive-looking mineral white E92 (lightly modded) on 176 St @40th-24th Ave Ave today after work, around 5:30. Was that you, kahunacanuck? There aren't that many mineral whites around town... your car looked really good.

Yep. Thanks for the compliments! I live close by; I was just heading across the line to my mailbox.

Your wheels and stance looked really aggressive.

See you around town!

Hey guys! I was wondering if anyone knows a place in vancouver or richmond or anywhere in BC that does powdercoating. I picked up my ZCP wheels a while ago and I've been meaning to powdercoat them. I'm wondering if anyone knows a place that can do this service well and for a reasonable price. Many thanks!!
