yeah, I was always offered a wash after service, whether I paid for for the service or not.

I sometimes decline the wash in the summer/spring/fall after I've already waxed the car, but usually say okay to the interior vaccum

Wash it yourself unless you like having scratches and swirl marks on your car.

What I've caught some of the dealerships around here do is they just spray down the car... they don't even use soap or anything. Just spray and wipe lol. horrible. They use to vacuum the interior but seems like they've stopped doing that too >__>

Don't let them wash your car! I forgot to tell them not to wash my M3 when I brought it in for the 1200K mile oil change. Now I have some pretty deep scratches on my trunk. I'm so angry. I'm going to have it detailed to get them removed!

Who doesn't like free dealer installed swirls?

When I see them washing cars at my dealer they either do one of two things..

1) Run it through a brush car wash

or

2) Wash multiple cars with the same buckets, cross contaminating between them all and using the same mitt/towel for the paint and the wheels.

It takes everything I have not to go out and kick the bucket over so he has to refill it.

OP NEVER LET THE DEALER WASH YOUR CAR

Why let someone else who doesn't give a fock unnecessarily touch & handle your car? Not worth it.

Everything said above is true. They always mess up somehow. I don't let the Honda dealer wash my wife's CRV none the less my M3 at the BMW dealer, lol.

I took my car in for service a day after I washed my car. They washed my car even though I told them not to and the car ended up getting dirtier.

It's not just the bucket of grit I fear at my dealer. They also cover the tyres in some kind of black silicon stuff. Looks kinda ok but it sticks to the alloys like shit to a blanket. Don't bother trying to refurb any curb damage after that. So I get them to write in large letters in the job card "do not wash". Makes no difference though. They still do it. So I stayed there last time. Nice place I have to say. Great coffee, nice cakes, beautiful seating area and wash rooms. And lots of M3's. Oh and beautiful sales assistant. Going off topic I know but there are some plusses to a visit to the stealer. Beats screaming kids at the local Starbucks. But no. Never let them wash your M3.

They messed up my car on last two washes.

This is one of the times when you should not take something for free.
