Hyundai Like Sunday Indeed

+1 on all the comments praising Hyundai.

First, the Super Bowl commercials were great.

Second, the Genesis sedan and coupe are big accomplishments, especially if you take a look at the trainwreck now known as Acura.

I thought their ads were amusing, personally, and I really don't think BMW is too worried quite yet. Hyundais are getting better and I'd enjoy giving the Genesis a drive but, but based on a 2000 mile stint with a rental Azera and what I've read about the Genesis, they're still more old-school Cadillac than Bavarian in the level of driving involvement they provide.

Definitely not as impressive-sounding as "X5 xDrive48i"

looks aside, Honda/Acura are still my top choice for FWD vehicles, especially for the price.

but i have seen hundreds of new 7 series since then. It's overall nice, but still it's just a hyunday.

Ah i remember the days when people first laughed at Lexus saying they couldnt compete in the luxury market. Good times.

Hyundai is doing great things! Cant wait to see what they spit out in the next 5-10 years.

The commercial and styling down to the headlights, pseudo blacklines and shark fin are designed to steal market share. It's called competition.

Having driven a lowly Sonata rental I was surprisingly impressed. I suspect the Genesis sedan and coupe are incredible values for the luxury and performance they offer if you can get over the stigma of owning a Hyundai.

Had the opportunity on several occasions to work on projects for their corporate headquarters and they do in fact pronounce it "like Sunday" and make a point of correcting you if you mispronounce it. They are very serious about that point to the extreme of being annoying. Great marketing team there, the rest of the place runs like a prison.

REALLY? u were impressed with the Sonata? I drove a v6 model last year and I was like damn, i rather have a civic lx. Their car designs have come a long way. The cars too have come a long way, but they have equally more distance to cover before i buy one. The genesis looks good, i want to test drive one.

What were they actually "introducing" during the Superbowl? The same car they'd been advertising all over my TV for the past 6 months?

Not knocking the car as I may test drive one when my lease is up, but I hate smug, self-referential commercials that aren't even funny.

Hyundai has come a LONG way in the past few years.

A few months ago I rented a car and got upgraded to a small SUV. I walked out to the car and realized it was a Santa Fe and thought 'Oh hell, a Hyundai turd to drive for a week.

Long story short I was STUNNED by how nice the Santa Fe was. Excellent leather, fit and finish was outstanding. It was sporty and responsive to drive and quiet on the highway. I really didn't want to give it back at the end of the week.

Hundreds of new 7's in a few months? Wow that's alot.

Good for the ad execs who did the ad. It has people talking.

I don't think they're hating... i was really impressed when i went to the dealer to check one out a few months back (my dad was interested in one), and everything from the inside and out are nice...

however, i saw one on the road w/ my dad again, and he wasn't so impressed. It looked and felt great at the dealership, but when it was on the road, it was very... conservative.

On the other hand, when I went to S. Korea this past summer and saw them on the road, they looked great. It's also because the emblems were gone, and they have a "bentley look alike" emblem on the ends of the genesis. It's a special genesis emblem.
