Clicking noise!!!!!!

Hey people heres my story im boggled by...I lowered my car on h&r springs (btw its 2013 coupe) and put some forgiato 3 piece wheels..everything is fine with no rubbing or clearance issues. I have a weird clicking noise coming from the right rear wheel well area. The noise seems like its with every revolution of the wheel so it speeds up as i go faster and vice versa. I cant figure it out! Its driving me insane

i used the stock lug bolts. Any ideas anyone????

I remember my E46 had a similar thing which was normal when the evrake was engaged but id describe it as a squeak. The dealer cleaned the hub, said it was my VMR wheels and charged me $200!

Well i removed the rear wheel and and checked around for any signs of rubbing of some sort. Nothing was noted. The lug bolts thread in 4.5 turns before being snug and maybe another 1/8 of a turn on torque down. Would it be possible the lug bolts are too short and im getting a clicking noise from that?

That certainly shouldn't cause the noise unless the wheel was loose. Did you roll the wheel and tire off the car by chance, or maybe even bounce it? I've seen loosely mounted tire pressure sensors make a clicking noise before. Since you say they're new and it's a rotational noise, that's a good place to check in my book.

You might have a pebble in between the rotor and the back plate. Mine did that and when I took the wheel off, a small pebble fell out and it quit making that clicking sound.

I checked the tires for nails and pebbles perhaps in the brake assembly. Nothing found. Now the noise seems like its from both rear wheels.

Im going to try to remove the wheels and inspect them including the tpms sensors.

Also there is no noise when the wheels are turning when the vehicle is on the hoist. Only occurs when there is a load on the wheels.

My car used to do that when i had spacers. If you are running spacers then you should double check them.

Update: Noise is constant almost a couple clicks per revolution of the wheels. Doesnt subside when braking. Doesnt change when cornering either. Im stunned!

Mine does that sometimes too. I think the brake pads(cold) make too much contact with the rotors. Just the slightest "unevenness wear" on the pads make them contact the rotor every revolution to make this sound....Try, when on the highway at cruising speed, give ur brakes a Firm brake check, maybe a few times to heat them up good, to see if this helps even them up.

Update: The clicking noise substantially reduces as the vehicle is driven. Basically the warmer the tires and brakes get, the less of a noise there is.

So the annoying noise is definitely not from the wheels or tires i inspected and checked everything. Its more concentrated from the brake caliper area but its from both sides of the car????? WOWWW

check the weights on your rims. i had the same sound and it was a loose weight

Update: I checked everything with my buddy whos a bmw tech. Its not a wheel or suspension issue. Good chance that the bearing is going bad. Going to the dealer to get it checked out

First I would try to check the dust shield behind the rotor. I had this issue on my G35 where the dust shield got bent when I removed the wheel and it was rubbing against the rotor.

I checked the dust shield. Funny thing with this whole issue was the sound initially began on the passanger side rear wheel. Now that has gone away and the problem is on the driver side.

well folks i still have this issue

one new thing i noticed was the clicking noise is gone when in reverse. Only happens when im moving forward. any ideas??

Your aftermarket wheel has a lower mounting profile that allows your lug bolts to travel further into the hub and contacting parking brake components.

Take the wheel off and drop a bolt in the hole and measure how much sticks through, compare that to your oem wheel.
