Ok...its a great commercial..

BUT WHY is this posted in general M3 discussion? It obviously has nothing to do with M3s and its a Vid....

For future reference sake: READ and make sure your in the right section before you create a thread...

Yup, most 'spensive advert yet.

And yes, I do get chills every time I watch it when I hear that flat-12 chime in at 00:51, 00:57, and 1:05. It's fucking music to the ears.

Now that does it for me. At least it's real. Real film, real time. The Shell commercial is mostly CGI.

well, kind of...

the car is a 3 speed automatic MB, not an exotic...
the sounds are dubbed Ferrari...
the speeds are slower than they appear, average was <50 mph, iirc

it was made in 1976...and this info is from the film maker himself...

Thanks for the info. It certainly felt more exciting and "real" to me. With modern versions you know that most of it was all put together in post. We end up getting jaded too quickly nowadays......

As somebody who still uses and prefers film (mixed with digital transfers for nonlinear editing ease), I like the look and feel of that piece.

Post was done at the Mill in London (also located here in LA.) I know that Xavier Zahra (and Suraj Odedra, I think) did some of the CGI work.

Car was driven through the streets, streets closed off (they do that here all the time, no biggie.) Expense was logistics and post production (as always.)
