Not for nothing but something here is completely screwed up. You say the economy is tough and the //M is too much so you can't expect your parents buy you ANOTHER //M, but a 40+k car, that's ok to expect / ask your parents to buy for you because that's reasonable.
I'm sure you are a nice kid, but this thread sums up the complete disconnect between many kids on these forums and reality. If you are driving around 50k cars, what on Earth do you have to work towards? This kinda of thinking represents a sense of entitlement that seems many kids today have, especially on these boards. Cheers, e46e92

100k car? 200k car? There should always be a goal to work for regardless of what you have now. But of course with a good baseline to start from, goal and dream becomes hard to distinguish.

My family owns business, and I work with my parents...and I often work w/o pay, and i'm a student right now at college...so putting in the effort to that I guess my parents found it okay for me to get a car I enjoy. I mean some have it harder than others, what can I say? I do get the feeling sometimes that I should've started off with something less...but I just fell in love with the M. I apologize if the wording on the thread made me seem like a bit of a spoiled kid...cuz I am far from that.

Definitely go for the alpine white. I think the M-Sport package makes a big difference in the looks, and you can get the BSW sound system later if need be (<$1000).
And in terms of getting nice cars from parents, I totally agree with e46e92love, but it's really everywhere, not just on these boards. I can say a good 15-20% of the international students at my school who own cars have cars in the league of 335i, M3, S5, S4, etc, so it's not just on these boards. When your first (or one of your first) car is a M3, which you bought with $0 income, you expect something much much nicer when you 30, 35, 40, and without parental support, at least when you're 30, it's highly unlikely that you'll have something significantly better than a M3. On the other hand, alpina seems to understand that what he's got now is completely because his parents can get it for him, and it doesn't seem like he's set that as the "base" for himself. If that had been the base, he wouldn't have been okay with stepping into a 335 after coming out of a M3. |

+1000000000000 the m3 never gets old for me....IMO I like the M3 in almost every aspect better than the competition weather it's a porsche, a c63, etc....I could drive an m3 for the rest of my life, and be highly content. After i'm done w/ college i'm definately going to be getting myself into another m3.

I always get ticked off at the spoiled kids.. Actually, their parents. But that’s not what this is about. I know what it's like to have nothing and claw through broken glass and rusty nails to get what you want. However, I can respect the fact that your in a good situation and you "earn" your keep. I'm 29.. When I have kids.. I want to be sure they are ready for the world and if they work for me, I'd be glad to share a passion like cars with them. You're lucky. Keep up the good work and never ever give up. My next goal is a GT3 RS. There is always another level.

I don't think it is a downgrade...good stuff on you for choosing your options carefully and having the aspiration to get another M in time.
I would go for the A/W, you won't regret it. I am with slammedm3 - I loved my M3 so much that I bought the E90 which is so awesome. I missed my E46 and with a lot of hard work in the last few years now could also afford the E46 M3 so have each one now. It is such a pleasure to own both and to experience the difference between the two. I am looking forward to the new M3 in the future and seeing what that one is all about although I don't know if I will get rid of the E90...the V8 is just sooooooo nice! M

We are going to have about 35-40 kids ages 3-7 coming to our office for free dental care, because their parents cant afford to pay for it. Oh yeah, sorry to have you switch to 335 too.

I think people are being way too harsh on you. If your parents can afford another car for you, then there is nothing wrong with that. Downgrading is an admirable thing, it takes a lot of nerve to go down a step and it will be a great learning process. Think of it as a means of motivating yourself to the next step (saving for a new M3, or something beyond that maybe?), and be happy you got to experience driving an ///M car. Heck I got my first car when I was 21, and could only afford a 4-cylinder Toyota. So relax, enjoy the 335i, and work hard for that next step up. Cheers |
