Laptop Monitor problems

i have no idea why my laptop screen's left side have a strip of lighter color
like a black screen and on the left there is a 2 inch strip on the very left striaght down
the position is it stick on the very left of the monitor and extended 2-3 inches to the middle
i am wondering if i need to refresh the monitor some how or what kind of problem it is having

I have no clue what your talking about. Can you take a picture of it? How old is the laptop, who made it?

had that happen with my old Powerbook. You need a new LCD.

I agree. This is a hardware problem, not software. My philosophy is ...there's always an excuse for an upgrade!

I once bought a laptop with a single pixel strip down the left, for $150 (because of the defect). When I got home it (the defect) went away, and never came back. Had the whole screen gone kaput, I would have felt pretty stupid.
